I doubt that this has been followed through.

There was a big fuss before the cull started, but I've heard nothing since.

Just an opportunity for the authorities to blame a minority group (the Coptic Christians) for a threat that hasn't even materialised in Egypt.

When I was working in Indonesia (Ombilin PP - Talawi - Sumatera Barat) I used to go out hunting in the jungle with the guys who worked with me on the site. They all dressed in weird hats, had dogs and we'd all go off in a few pick-ups (Utes to the kuntry kussins) and spend the day getting thoroughly dirty and worn out.

The first time we went out they were at great pains to explain to me that they were hunting tapir ( jungle nimal closely related to the pig) but that, as it was haram (treff)(unclean) they would feed it to the dogs when they caught one.

The first couple of outings we caught nothing. The next time out we caught a good sized tapir - nothing kike as big as apig, but nevertheless meaty.

Quick conference in Bahasa Indonesian and then the guys asked me if I was hungry. Yes - of course. Do you think we should cook this animal, then? Good idea.

So we all sat around eating this treff meat and thoroughly enjoying it.

I also used to meet the guys of an evening in the local village mrket square, where we would sit and have a beer or two - both Carlsberg and Heineken had breweries in the country, so I assume that this is a good market.

I really like the Indonesians, most of the time they are friendly, respectful and good to be with. Same as most of the wold. It is only when some fanatic comes around that the wheels fall off, everyone looking at their neighbours to see who is checking on who.

I was born in Stamford Hill in NE London - bombed out at the beginning of the forties, spent the war moving around a dozen different addresses outside London, then moved back at the end of the war.

The area is very frum, black hats everywhere. Kike is not a word I would deliberately use anywhere, but as you say it could have been a (Clement) Freudian slip.

Tried PMs, checked the casualty lists in Afghanistan - but they are serving forces only.

When I try to check civilian casualties al I get is a lot of NGO's trying to drum up money for Afghan civilians, or sites condemning US actions that cause (Afghan) civilian casualties.
