I had dinner at C1 yesterday and they had a sign saying they cannot serve beer between 02.00 PM to 05.00 PM !

I have been looking for info in Thaivisa but cannot find anything.

Only in Chiang Rai or only in C1 ?

I am into Khao Panza so it does not hurt me.

Only in food halls in most large shopping centres and 711:s. Annoying if you like a glass of white with your sushi-mi

Yeah Someone mentioned the same thing on thursday at C1.

I just thought maybe it was due to a 'Buddha' day or something.

Its only three hours 'Dry' I suppose but can't be good for business.

If it was nationwide I'm sure we would have heard more about it by now :)

Whats ' Khao Panza' Sven, Sounds painful

Wifes friend says she saw something about it on the News last Week so maybe its not a Joke . :)

Also a thread running about it in General section of the forum.

come on put us out of our misery, was anyone served an Alcoholic beverage today between 2-5 in Chiang Rai ? Rico's maybe ? ...... Anyone ?

Guys it's nationwide. Has been in effect for a long time. Bangkok Tops enforces this very well, many time tried to buy when shopping can not. Some restaurants enforce some don't. It's hit and miss.

Hi Sven, saw you yesterday at Rico's national sissy day! You were looking good , will you stay the course no beer for the 3 months? Anyway it seems this will affect all alcohol outlets very soon...Spoke to chiang rai(English Dave) and he says its been on the radio and he had seen some sort of paperwork on it at C1...Rico's wife knew about it and I believe they will go to the local authority to check it out Monday...I have given myself a self imposed alcohol ban as well, WHILE I'M ASLEEP!

I was in Jetyod last night with a few friends for a birthday party . We went first to Cat Bar where at 11:45pm we got told they were closing at 12 midinght and couldnt serve us ( 11 of us ). So , we went next door to Paradise bar , no problem there. I told the owner of Paradise that even though I was offered personally a beer from Cat bar they didnt want to serve us as they were closing. The owner of Paradise then brought out a letter from the Police , it stated that ALL bars are to close from now on at MIDNIGHT. I asked if there were any rules about the bar having to stop serving alcohol between 2-5pm and the answer was NO.

The owner of Paradise bar said that even though the letter issued to all the bar owners stated they must close at 12 midnight , it will be ok to stay and drink as long as all the external lights outside were OFF.

Looks like another pathetic rule in a business already falling through the floor due to higher prices and lack of customers. The Price in Jetyod for 1 large Leo was 100 bht !!

Earlier on in the evening at a bar near Par club, 3 large bottles of Leo 100bht (promotion) they said, but they have been doing 3 botlles for 100 bht for months . They must be losing money left right and centre but the bar was full of people ?

I didnt bother with Lamyai's bar or any of the others due to generally being very quiet now. Too many local Expats have been ripped off up there in that Soi , so not many are seen as well as the high prices charged for some drinks.

100 baht for a bottle of Leo . <deleted>. I'd expect to see a Guy sat stroking a Rabbit with a German Helmet on or something for that price . Poor Old Jetyod :)

Just an update as I have just come back from town..

Rin at Easy corner said , there is no order to stop alcohol sales between 2-5pm but the order issued was basically the same as what the owner of Paradise

Bar said - close the lights and no music from Midnight. Also there is a ban on selling Whiskey to anyone under the age of 20 years old. Not sure if they mean only Thai people or Farangs as well. Rin wasnt sure.

Lamyai today said that her bar is business as usual but she must turn her lights out at 2am, shut the doors and drink inside. Obviously she has the police in her pocket but I can really see no changes whatsoever .

Happy days if you can afford to drink in these bars.

The rule for C1 Bar must be her rule to try and oust the farangs that drink there in the afternoons . She did something like that before to some people for no real reason ? correct me if I am wrong .

I am not in disagreement that Big C , Makro or places like 7-11 shops or any other SHOP that sells alcohol are not allowed to sell between the hours of 2-5 pm

This has been the law for a long time and the majority abide by the rule , unless you know someone in 7-11 who may serve you between those hours. There is also a law that you cannot buy from 7-11 after 11pm also .

The bars seem to have seperate rules maybe ?
