hi, we are awake now i have a karaoke bar next door waking me up 02.30 every night and stops maybe 05.00.

Have tried everything to make them stop but clearly Police is on the payroll.

we live in residential area of cherng talay,the Vip Karaoke is 300m from the police station.

Any advise what to do?have even reported to office in Phuket town about sound level....

agree,noise is not an issue with thais,they will cope with it where as for us falang it becomes a real pain in the arse.

It really is just easier to move,unless you own the property you live in,then you have a different problem cos you cant just upend and move.

1st choice is to move.  2nd choice is to find the best ear plugs/noise canceling device money can buy. 3rd choice soundproof your house better if you own it.

it is more likely if you do the legal routine, the corrupt gov and cops are always in the business.

Get a White Noise generator and mask the sound. Works for me and better than earplugs. Tunes out the construction site next door.

i moved four times in two years coz of noise and i can now move move everything i own with seven trips on a honda dream

i still have one chicken and a barking dog near me now but its better than the last three rooms

Was the same problem in Nai Harn when Icon Disco opened....residential area....loud music to early morning outside the designated night zone areas...neighbours complained...police was gonna sort it out,of course....nothing happened.

Try some of the silicon wax ear plugs, they are not uncomfortable to wear as they mold into your ear, they really work, i can' even hear a giant alarm clock with huge bells. You can buy most pharmacies

Just curious... was the karaoke bar there prior to your moving in to your domicile?

The karaoke bar was here before i moved in..but my house is in a backroad from the bar.

Problem is they have opened a vip section over the wall 10m from my house 6 months ago,when this door opens it is like a wall of sound coming in intervals.

I am renting the house,the owner has complained several times about this to Police and tessaban but nothing is Changing.

So the next time i look for a house i will make a night time appointment for looking at the house,the last house i rented had a crazy neighbour.

But with my luck,1 week after i move in they will start renovating the house next door at 06.00 in the morning..lol

To my knowledge these places are supposed to close business at 1 a.m. The local police will be on the pay, but I was told you could complain at the Phuket Main Police Station which oversees them, also a letter to the Governor may help. He seems to be wanting to improve the situation for foreigners who bring in cashj into the local economy these days.

I agree with most - move mate. Sometimes it just needs to be done. It will save your sanity.

Kamelot, in my experience, the police are useless, but the Tesaban takes a more serious attitude.

It was my understanding that the noise had to stop at midnight in a residential area and it's the Tesaban that enforces it.

But, it might be detrimental to your health...and as much as I'd want to wander over with a baseball bat after midnight, I know better than that...now.
