Bangkok pours 400 million baht into IT system

BANGKOK: -- The Bangkok Governor, Apirak Kosayothin, has unveiled plans to invest 400 million baht into an information technology (IT) system to help increase the administration’s efficiency.

The planned IT centre will open in April and provide a comprehensive and consolidated information database for the whole of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), said Mr. Apirak.

The 400 million baht budget will fund hardware and database development, and the training of personnel in the IT centre.

More than 30,000 municipal officials will be trained to use the computerised database system and record the city residents’ complaints.

Bangkok also plans to install Internet community services in all the city’s 50 districts to help increase communication and improve the administration’s efficiency.
