Ideas For A Day Out In Issan

Hi,

My parents are coming out for a visit next month and I am looking for ideas of places to take them, I think we have done all temples to death in the past so was wondering if anyone can recommend nice places to visit in these areas? There was just one question though regarding temples.... Anyoone know the name of the temple on a mountain near Sakorn that has wild monkeys living there, it was a great place but I forgot the name and directions.

Cheers.

Wat Tam Kam, i think it is pronounced something like that. If you are talking about the temple up the mountain on Road 22 Sakon Nakhon to Udon Thani.

Much more sightseeing opportunities on the Laos side of the Mekong. If they are adventurous and you have a couple of days hire a taxi in Tha Kaek and go to Tham Kong Lo (Kong Lo cave), staying overnight home-stay style (no need to book) in the villages near the cave. Rudimetary but wonderful travel experience. The limestone karst scenery on the way is also beautiful
