Ok guys,I have a non multi O visa (friends and family) ,UK citizen.

My first 90 days are up this coming weekend. I will be driving up to Nong Khai with the wife (day trip).

So, apart from the passport what else do I need to bring along?

Where is best to park?

What costs are involved?

The last time I was there was quite a few years ago. A taxi into Vientiane cost me about 400 baht if I

remember correctly (one way).

Any tips or advice would be welcomed. :)

Normal photos for visa to Laos. Visa cost to Laos is about 1000 baht but varies by nationality/currency. There is no requirement to go to Vientiane.

No requirement to go to Vientiene? Do you pay someone to make the run for you? Or do you mean you Vientiene is not the only place.

You said you had a multi entry visa - as long as it is valid you only have to cross into another country and return for a new 90 day stamp.

:):D :D

His meaning of "non" seems to be "non immigrant visa" as friends and family is Hull talk for that visa. So non immigrant multi O visa.

OK. No need to go to Vientiane. :D

Why are photos needed?

For the Laos Visa application form.

AHSO.

I did all this before but I had a non multi-entry visa and had to apply for a non immigrant visa.

The reason I mentioned Vientiane, was to see if anyone had used a taxi recently and what they had paid

(from the border).

Also I've heard the beer Laos is very nice.

Mukdahan is closer for me but I was there not so long ago.

So, a 3-4hr drive means a trip into Laos. Stock up on the beer :) .

Does anyone know about the parking situation near the border?

Thanks guys.

I can confirm that Beer Lao is excellent.

No recent taxi info, but about 4 years ago we hired a tuktuk at the border who took us to Vientiane and back late afternoon for 500 Baht.

Hung around while we ate and drank and bought stuff. Had to share with schoolgirls and sundry, but good fun.
