Inexpensive Gym At Bkk ? Any Suggstions ?

I used to do some sports at least once a week in my home country, but I can not continue this here at BKK.....so I am in need to move my lazy body otherwise I will be looking like the next BUDDHA within a short while.....any suggestions about GYMs at BKK ? actually I am completely inexperienced about the GYM thing, but I think its the only thing I can do here, cause jogging or playing football seems not to be advisable at 40 degrees in the daytime....

I just want to know a regular, average place for that, not too expensive, with an ok-equipment and experienced staff to teach a newbie......

no such places as"California-GYM" or something like that where it seems to be rather important to SHOW OFF than to exercise....

how much will I have to pay for a GYM ? do I have to sign a 6-months or 1-year plan ? or can I pay by hour......maybe book 10 hours in advance and then come and go whenever I want to ?

please share your good and not so good experiences about that in BKK. I stay in the North at the moment, but might move to a more centrally located place in the very near future.....access to BTS or MRT is always an advantage, though....

THANXXXXX folks

If your thinking of moving soon, just find a place with a good gym inside the appartment building. I can actually get in california free but I don't think I will like the atmosphere of the place, it seems you have to be fit before you get there! :o

I've been using the gym in my appartment now quite regulary recently, it's not got the best equipment in the world, but got some weight set ups, bike, some aerobics machines and a good treadmill, as well a sauna and swimming pool in the complex so it serves me pretty well.

Its the same crew of guys and girls in there most of the time, from the unfit (me), the old, to the big fat security guard who pops up from time to time to have a go on the treadmill.

Overall a good atmoshere and a nice place to workout and meet a few people in the building so I have to say, an appartment gym works for me everytime.

Gotta add though, Im an amateur gym guy and maybe the equipment that is good for me is not going to be up to your standard, but then I expect thats just a case of finding the right appartment with a good look at the gym first. :D

That is good advice. I have heard that if your gym is located more than 15 minutes away from your home or office, it will get little use. I can attest to that fact.

I use the Westin on Sukhumvit and find it to be a professionally run gym with serious users and friendly helpful staff. Their equipment is about a year old and they keep it in good shape.

When you settle into your abode, take a walk around the neighborhood and see what is there. Most gyms offer a free workout (or in some cases a weeks free membership) to try it out.
