Bangkee (spelling?) In Bkk

Featured Replies

My g/f has moved from the east of BKK to Bangkee (Bangkay?) somewhere, I believe, in the west of Bangkok. I'll be staying there during my next visit and although I could ask her, I know her description/directions will be limited.

So, is it more north, south, and how far from the river? Would I head west from say democracy monument, or Taksin bridge?

Does anyone have a link to a decent map showing the outskirts of BKK.

Thanks.

Bang Kruay perhaps? This MAP covers out to that area and is in English.

There is a Bangkae in Thonburi that is a popular (i.e. inexpensive) place to live with young Thai's. It's about 10 - 15km west of the Saphan Thaksin - the Thaksin bridge at the end of the Skytrain. This Bankae is about 45 min to an hour by bus away from "civilization" :o .

The major road out there is Thanon Petchasam.

There is Bang Khen near the airport and Bang Khae in Thonburi.

To get to Bang Khae you can take Phet Kasem Rd. eastbound from Wong Wian Yai Rotary in Thonburi.

Here's a map to Bang Kae:

Thanks guys. Just hope it's as nice as Bangkapi. I spent 18 months there and loved the area. Loved the fact that it was away from the centre and very 'Thai' if you'll excuse the saying.

I think you will find bang kae is far more 'thai' than bangkapi but i'd better not say why. Bang kae also has the mall which is the vatican of country music and also two of the finest cafe's in bkk with the third, krungton also being not far away. Bang kae is about 100 baht taxi from surasak BTS-peter
