He's played in one of the qualifiers and was on the bench for two others but the game that stands out for me was the 2-1 'friendly'win over Germany in Berlin.He was magnificent that night.

it's never worked and they're both at their very best in the final third of the pitch anyway. lampard's better than gerrard in a deeper role as he's better at keeping it simple, gerrard's simply not a world class centre mid. he is a world class split forward / hole player though.

capello must be praying incessantly that barry gets fit. i'd have had phil neville in the squad as cover in case he doesn't make it such is england's need for a defined defensive midfielder.
