Internet Solutions In Chiang Rai

Featured Replies

Hey, I'm quite keen to move up to the north but I'd like to live in a village where I have some good friends, rather than in the city. My problem is that I will need the internet. The village doesn't have phone lines, however. What are my options? Will a company bring the phone lines up there? Do I need satellite internet?

On Mekjhong TOT i can ive you speeds av

Sat my Swedish telcoms expert rents 10% of local exchange

There are other discrete solutions related to telecom systems of other jurisdictions

pm for more its doable

I have net as good as USA or UK here

its ot Korea or Finland but ok email music films slow etc

I used to get pretty good service on the IpStar satellite.

Sceadugenga,

what down and upload speed do you normally get?

I don't recall, I never used to do major downloads like bit torrents at that time. It was quite adequate for day to day use, email and surfing the web though. I used to talk on Skype regularly.

I have a land line now and my internet connection is also tied up with my satellite TV system which makes it faster and more reliable. I don't have the IT savvy to pretend to understand it.

Go and talk to TOT at their office on the Thoeng road near the SuperHighway.

I have a dedicated line from TOT for internet. I pay 738 per month. For this I regularly get download speeds above 300KB/s. Except when the kids are out of school until around 8pm. Easy to stream or download movies and tv.

If there are no phone lines in your village then the phone company probably won`t install any cables until there are enogh houses wanting lines.

Sorry I don`t know anything about satellite internet, but I believe the stsrt up costs may be high.

Hello!

I am living just out side Chiang Rai and use a 4mg.connectio and pay 790 baht+but just see that TOT offer a 12mg.connection for 1500 baht and then you are apple to do the most I think.

I think if you cant get a phone line+then use a usb. it is not so good but anyway better then nothing+I start whit it.
