The article doesn't mention blow! :)

I can't claim to be an expert on underworld nomenclature, but I thought coke was blow?

Neither can I, however, when I did drugs (many, many years ago) blow was smoking dope, grass, hash or cannabis.

I thought Blow was Dope as well, so checked on a search and the result was Charlie, I get more confused by the day :)

I always thought that blow was cannabis but I was a bit of a speedy man myself so can't claim any expertise in the matter.

Blow is coke, smack and dope is heroin, but I never heard of Charlie.

In the USA its mostly available on the east coast, blow a.k.a. powdered heroin :)

:) well done.

I was snorting at some of the replies.

blow, lady, snow = coccain

charlie, smack, brown = heroin

that is what i have been told

Yeah, that's my understanding too.

I thought it was blow because it is snorted.

Also, "dope" is a very old term and may have been for heroin. These days, at least in NZ, "dope" is only ever used in reference to maryjane.

You didn't really expect any serious replies did you? :)

All up in smoke. :)

Charlie is a term that originates from 50's (I think) London. At the time, the cocaine and opium trade was in full flow, with it being provided from the East.

There came a point when a lot of deaths were occurring amongst young English women and the police looked for the culprit and/or a scapegoat. Well they just happened to find their scapegoat in a Chinaman by the name of Charlie Chang, hence why the drug is often referred to as 'Charlie' or 'Chang'.

:)

That's interesting - I may win the Weakest Link.

Blow, in my life is smoking dope. Don't know what we called cocaine - probably too high to remember.

posts 17, 18, and 19..... very punny indeed.

You've injected a bit of humour.

All this drug naming is very confusing... What's Bob then?

I thought it was Bob Hope! :)

I thought Bob was Blackadder's sidekick.

Has anyone here seen this one?

From the sexy packaging, it might be understood to refer to an entirely different meaning of the word!!!
