'Food safety road' in Phuket

BANGKOK: -- A road in Phuket, one of Thailand's six southern Andaman provinces hit by the last December tsunami, was declared a 'food safety road' today.

Public Health Minister Suchai Charoenratanakul presided over a ceremony to declare 'Prachauthit Road 200 Years Road' in the province's Krathu District as a 'food safety road', as part of the government's food safety policy.

He also presented the 'clean food, good taste' signs to 40 food houses which have met the required criteria.

Last year the Ministry of Public Health presented the 'clean food, good taste' sign to 34 food houses on the road.

This makes all food houses on the road be certified for the 'clean food, good taste' sign now.

Phuket was among the country's six provinces ravaged by the December tsunami.

Other five provinces include Phang-nga, Krabi, Trang, Ranong and Satun.
