Tea Party: There To Stay And Gain Power ?

Featured Replies

I'm not a Palin fan but I just want to remind everyone that while she may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, the guy who is the supposed genius won the election and he's mucking things up pretty good so far.

I'll take common sense and integrity over an Ivy League degree any day. Now, we just need to find a politician with the common sense and integrity. Yeah, good luck with that.

No argument....but an Ivy League degree...any decent education.... would be a bonus.

I get an impression that Obama has integrity and common sense.

There is an old quote/saying......there is method in his madness.

I am not saying he is committing madness......but it would be good to keep in mind that aphorism when looking at the actions of an intelligent and educated man.

We are not privvy to all the information and expert advice upon which he makes his decisions.

Bush was also privy to info and even more expert advice and few gave him the benefit of a doubt. Interesting how once Obama is in position to see that info, that he starts acting more and more like Bush (predator strikes inside Pakistan? How un-Obama).

I don't see common sense coming from Obama. From his bungling of the Harvard police incident ("I don't know the facts but the police were wrong") and slamming Las Vegas twice, and closing Gitmo when it was obvious to everyone not on the far left that it is easier said than done (and his deadline is long gone and Gitmo is still there), and wanting to try KSM on NYC, and the list goes on.

As for integrity, the man is a politician and a lawyer. 'Nuff said.

Take away Obama's teleprompter (which he recently used in a talk to small children at their school) and give him an unsympathetic press like Bush had and you will have a man maybe one level above Bush in the idiot category. Just why does Obama need a teleprompter everywhere he goes? Because during the campaign he kept making Bush-like screw ups.

I like the future of the Tea Party movement if they can stick to only the principles they have now and not get involved in other issues. The NRA deals with gun issues regardless of party. Other groups deal with abortion issues regardless of party. The TP should stick to taxes & budget issues and support candidates from any party who believes the way they do.

Who died and left you in charge? I will post anytime and on any subject I wish and defy you to tell me otherwise.

The only pride you have shown is to clean up your spelling by either using your new Thesaurus or Spell Check. At least your posts now have a degree of professionalism that was not exhibited before.

You are the antagonist. You were also accused of being a liar, and failed miserably in refuting it....so the accusation remains.

I retain my pride in that I did remove myself previously when I said I would. You, on the other hand, frantically researched historical posts to prove me wrong, yet when you failed, you did not rise to the challenge....shame on you.

BTW...vitriol is not spelt "vitriole".

As soon as Obama picked his cabinet I think many let out a sigh similar to one realizing you had already seen the movie soon after it starts.

As for the Tea Party I agree. If they stick to it there are in fact good people to pick from.

I think putting Obama only one level above Bush is unrealistic.....but, yes, to get back on topic as one idiot follower of the village idiot needlessly digressed from....

As we agreed before, the ideal ecclectic nature of the TP's overt front is certainly promising.

To think of Bush as being his own man is unrealistic, he was probably the first president to be the figurehead of a "presidential team". For eight years the US was run by a committee, almost certainly headed by Dick Cheney.

The press seems to have turned on Obama, they would certainly claim to be his creator but the great headlines they anticipated ("Obama makes gay marriage compulsory") haven't eventuated and, like petulant children, they are attempting to dismantle "their" creation.

The next few years will be the test of Obama's presidency; Afghanistan, Iraq, the economy, health... are what people are waiting to see results on.

All Obama has to do is be the man in the White House when the economy noticeably improves and people are happy and confident about their own financial situation. Wars, health care, social security, energy policy means very little during an election if the economy is humming along. Look at 2004 - the Iraq War was unpopular, Bush got more bad press than ever before though humanly possible. BUT, hundreds of thousands of jobs were being added every month. That's all that really mattered and he got 10+ million more votes than 4 years earlier. Late in Clinton's second term polls showed that the people didn't consider him trustworthy. At the same time he got high marks for job approval. In 1980 Reagan was famous for asking "are you better off today than 4 years ago?" - and won in a landslide. Clinton's campaign slogan in 1992 was "It's the Economy, Stupid!". OK, he only got 43% of the vote but that was enough. I think one way or another the economy will improve over the next 2.5 years and Obama will win in 2012.

JFK was said to have been LBJ's piss boy.

There I was trying to read koheesti's post and then my eye caught this masterpiece.

An expansion on your comment is expected sir.... nay, demanded we say! Demanded!

I could be wrong.....I do not have a huge interest in US politics and thus have not studied it.....so call it just a gut feeling from a casual observer.... I think Obama may be trying to NOT be just the man in the Whitehouse when the economy improves. I think he genuinely wants to achieve, not for re-election, but because he believes in the country.

He may be naive about it.

I agree with your first paragraph.

Your second bit....Interesting angle that I think does have some part to play in the overall scenario.

If I see someone at the scene of an accident with severe head trauma I may genuinely want to help, but if I start trying to perform brain surgery on them, it's only going to get worse because I am not qualified by a long shot.

He may be naive about it.

This is the problem.

Don't worry, Palin the "common sense" economist is on the way.

Incidentally, I have some qualifications in that field myself, if you like to hunt through my 2008 posts.... think of the education there to be acquired!!, you'll see that I confidently predicted that the "slight economic slump" would instantly become a "full blown recession" on January 20, 2009... according to the Republican Party.

I take your point.....but is Obama so unqualified? If I was the accident victim, I think I would rather a person with a decent first aid certificate do something to staunch the blood, rather than stand on the sideline waiting for an ambulance that may not arrive for some time.

You're not going to get anyone with every qualification necessary to run a planet, or even a country.

Presidency is about choosing suitable people to advise you.

Do you think Obama is listening to HER advice? :)

he could do worse, she has run a business, made payroll and held real jobs in the private sector, managed a govt budget and appointed advisors to political positions all of which BO has never done. dont get me wrong i am not a palin fan and i get tired of her air time but i am able to see that she is far more qualified to run a commercial concern than BO. The USA is a commercial concern, that is what it was built on and what will get it back on it's feet even farmers think of commerce. IMO OB has selected (not the ones he got from bush) educators, and academics who have ideas but have never made a pay roll. I may sound like a broken record on this but that is because i have always been self employeed and I know what it means to pay everyone else first and have nothing or more than enough at the end of the line and there is nothing more depressing for me than to have the govt with it's hand out demanding it's share under penalty of law. BO has no idea what this means Palin does. would she have been a better vp than JB imo YES. would she be a better president than BO again, imo YES. Not because she is smarter, but because she understands what working and working people want. she understands how many jobs could be produced by simply drilling for oil ......... the USA is all about money, not utopic social programs. In middle america where i was raised they always said, if you want to eat, work. there was no such thing as being to proud to work.

What business has she run? I thought her non political career involved sports journalism.

commercial fishing in alaska and by anyones account that is no walk in the park.

btw on your demand for an answer to LBJ and jfk, the electorial college put jfk into office and it was by all accounts LBJ who had the political power. imo if LBJ had not been bogged down with civil rights and vietnam he would have put in place everything that bo is trying to do now and more.

Couldn't have been much of a prez getting bogged down in two bit issues like Vietnam and civil rights.

The Palin commercial fishing business..... forgive me, but my efforts to track it down reveals a fairly minor operation. No doubt you'll enlighten me though?

I recently saw a article somewhere that compared LBJ to Obama & said Obama would go the exact same was as a one term president. Will see if I can find it.

here is the thing and it is not to be pro palin but the fact that she knows what it is to be business person and bo does not. no matter how small her commercial business was she had to invest her own money for fuel and make sure the boat would stay maintained to stay a float and had all the equip needed to catch the fish, hence she knows what it is to take the risk of making the investment and possibly no breaking even or even going broke. This is the way that most small busness people operate and this is what bo has never done nor worried about. he is not able to relate to the back bone of the amercian financial system.

I don't think anyone begrudges this lightweight thinker/politician cashing in on her 15 minutes of fame. No more than if she had won "Survivor" or "American Idol", but let's not pretend she's got anything going on upstairs. She won a lottery ticket, and that's about it.

Remember Pauline Hanson? She ran a successful fish and chip shop before entering politics.

Probably unknown outside Australia but I can't help comparing her and Palin, so many similarities.

Pauline

Hanson was a racist.

One spokesperson of his proclaimed Mao as one of her heroes. She resigned.

Another, Van Jones, turned out to believe that the US gov't was behind 9/11. He resigned.

Sec of the Treasury and the man overseeing the Internal Revenue Service, Timothy Geithner, failed to pay his taxes owed to the government.

Attorney General Eric Holder wants to handle terror suspects like KSM with kid gloves while investigating the CIA for maybe not being nice enough to them.

Sec of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano, insisted on at least two news shows the Sunday after the underwear bomber was caught that the system had worked. She later had to apologise for making such an obviously wrong statement.

Those are just off the top of my head. You can probably find more examples but not too many. Afterall, it's only been one year.

“I will live, I will die for the people of America"

Pretty strong rhetoric and might be compelling if it came from a 5 star general with 40 years of service to his country. Instead it came from an airhead who resign her job as governor in the least populous state, when the going got rough and a better offer came along. She's dangerous not only for everything she doesn't know, but for all the things she doesn't think she needs to know. That she isn't booed off the stage anywhere she appears tells alot more about the audience than it does about her.

To coin a phrase about the Obama administration....They don't know what they don't know.

Yes & to top it off the wackos in the GOP paid for her lottery ticket :)

Not nice :D ,,,but 100% true
