I really love that photo of the monks and the lantern, Fred. You captured it perfectly. Sometimes you're in the right place at the right time, and lucky enough to have a camera with you.

Thanks....but you make it all sound accidental... :jap: :ermm::unsure::blink:

It's not accidental that you go places with your camera, where there are "likely" to be situations that provide good photo ops, but it IS fortunate that all the right things happen at the right time. That is not always predictable.

And, it the case of your remarkable photo above, it is obvious that you are familiar enough with your camera to get the settings correct for the lack of lighting. Fumbling around in the dark is not easy.

Sunset at "Lazy Days Beach".

The tranquillity just after sun sets, and the wind and waves has settled down.

Photo was taken at " Lazy Days Beach " on Koh Maak a small island near the more famous Koh Chang back in 1995.

Another old shot from 1987.

This time showing the Floating Market at Damnoen Saduak with the morning light shining!

My daily image

Lots more on the same site of the recent Loy Krathong/Yi Peng festival in Chiang Mai

All the photos on that site are from my old 35mm film cameras.

Went to Tawandang again this week and it is sure fun after 11 p.m. :D

The lighting and colour rendition is good but the image is lacking atmosphere/emotion - it's just too static!

Maybe a slower shutter speed would have injected "life" into this situation

just my $0.02

And I like it, shows the sanuk side of Thai people

Whatever

I think you should take photography a bit less seriously Vulcan.

When you comment about pictures taken by people who have no intention to be professional.

But advice is sure appreciated.

You post an image - I attempt to help by placing an opinion - then it does not meet your approval and I become a cynic!

Constructive criticism pertains to education - in some cases!

I was offering an opinion wherein I thought the image may have more impact.

Are you so adept that you are beyond advice!

I will NEVER take photography "less seriously"

It's an art worth defending!

Was not talking about the criticism on the last picture I posted actually. I have a good memory :whistling:

And education is something that can be discussed at length. What is education?

And you're sure right, photography is worth defending.

Gives you a glimpse of one moment in time that will last forever.

Listen

Your family snaps are OK - some are quite amusing!

Let's now turn turn to "photography and the arts" (forum heading)

Ok, back to topic, my favourite singer in Tawandang, no critic allowed :D

See , you can do it!

p.s. "no criticism allowed" is Mod language

Nice shot and a lot of atmosphere (reflection free also!)

Bastard - I like that a lot!

Thank you. Was quite late actually.

I think I need to drink quite a bit to take good pictures.

So that my right (emotional) brain takes over my dominant left (mathematical) brain ;):D

Very nice one Fabian. I'd wish it could be a bit cooler here in Bangkok.
