Interview With New Pattaya Police Chief

Featured Replies

We have reported over the last few days of plans by the new Superintendant of Pattaya Police Station, to clean-up the city and correct problems inherited by him from previous Superintendants.

On Tuesday Morning, we conducted an interview with Police Colonel Nantawoot, who at the age of only 38, is one of the youngest Superintendants Pattaya Police Station has ever had.

He has been transferred here to clean-up the City which is a haven for all forms of serious crimes. His main focus will be on crimes relating to illegal drugs. He acknowledges the fact that drug usage and distribution is the biggest problem Pattaya faces. He believes that by suppressing drug crimes, others crimes will also be reduced as a result.

He will be reviewing the work of his investigations department to ensure that investigations into drug crimes are completed to the point that everyone involved in the chain of drug distribution is located and arrested. Many other points were discussed in our meeting with the new Colonel including plans to increase the numbers of Traffic Police Officers in Pattaya.

They will be asked to better control Baht Buses and where they park and how they drive and response times for officers to attend road accidents will also be improved. Prostitution is also high on his agenda and he will be particular interested in arresting agents who provide men and women to customers for the purposes of prostitution.

He targets his own officers.

Good luck to him, may he be successful!

Good PR for him now, no doubt he will make a statement in a few weeks that everything is cleaned up! :)

The new sheriff in town needs time to get his tea dosh arrangements set with the local community. :D

Why so little faith? he may be on an incentive scheme that out weighs the tea money

There was only a thread the other day about how high ranking officers in Thailand can buy their positions. I'm not suggesting this man has, as already indicated he seems to be walking some hard line and leading from the front, which is a good sign, but at age 38 I wonder how he became a Superintendant? :)

^Nepotism and I'm sure a few backhanders.

I'm a cynic for certain, but I shall wait/see. :) Farangs are not the major problem, it's pretty much the thai(s) if the truth be known.

EX Parachute Reg And Looks like a war Hero = Superintendant Easy Peesy

Give it a rest BM - shout it enough times and he may just begin thinking, "if the cap fits..."

On the other hand, if he is genuine in his plans, try supporting him while they're being enacted, and it may prolong that enactment.

You're usually one of the first to object when anyone complains about anything about Pattaya, so unless you reckon you're on his hit list, you should be supporting the new Colonel.

Hmmm?

I'm not actually even sure where the rank of Superintendant sits within the Thai Police ranks?

No worries from me, since I am as clean as a whistle.

However the proof is in the pudding. He really hasnt done much if you actually look at who he arrested. :)

It seems sensible at this early juncture to assume that he is in fact squeaky clean.in which case bar owners and proprietors of other entertainment palaces had better make sure that their licences are up to date. If they don't then instead of paying tea money they will be paying fines - or worse.

I suspect that the essential character of the city will not change. If it does then no tourists and therefore no city.

not a rank - a function

He has started the ball rolling for sure,he seems just the right man for the job.....lets see this time next year when things could well be a lot different :)

He seems to be a clone for another certain somebodys intentions about cleaning Pattaya up once and for all.

Perhaps after finishing with the bigger fish, the police chief may go after britmaveric for defamation and/or libel.
