^You'll have no trouble recognising the bridesmaids - they're the ones with the woollen coats. :)

Sorry Pete - I'm feeling a tad sheepish after that quip...

Gunna do it up, bridal like.

Driver needed, any offers.

Free lunch........hehe.

Sure Pete...I'll chaufeur for you.....free lunch and all....but I'm more interested in the booze and the bridesmaids.

Actually, sincerely, if you need a hand with anything, I'll be glad to assist.....even if there are no bridesmaids. :)

Just give me a yell.

Thanks for the offer, Harksy.

So long as You can drive an older car.

One bride's maid so far, me baby dorta.

BTW, PING, you will keep.

Well, I'd never desecrate your daughter.....so I'm outa luck for your happy day. Mai pen rai.

I learnt to drive in a Morry Minor in 1979 when I was 15, then my grandad's Holden Special 176, then his Kingswood 186. My first car was a 1950 Humber Hawk (1981)...since then I have progressively got more modern, except for when I returned to NZ and bought an Austin Devon. I am sure I can handle you car....I saw it in you garage.

Nay, lad.

What he means is a 1930-ish Lagonda with a preselector gear-box.

When you're driving along you decide whether your next change will be 'up' or 'down', then depress clutch, move into that gear and carry on your merry way in the original gear. Then, when you need to change, just depress the clutch again and it will change to the pre-selected gear.

Great - except when there's an emergency.

Guess that's one reason there's not many of these cars round anymore.

I drove one in the sixties for a time - had no trouble with it myself - just selected whichever gear crossed my mind in that star-studded gree/yellow rainbow that walked between the windscreen and the bridge, with the big truck sprouting wings and flying away into the lunch-time sunset.

Hey Harcourt, I'll take the Humber Hawk off your hands if you've still got, I'll even give you what you originally paid for it..... :)

Nice motor in their day.

I loved my Hawk. Buillt like a tank. The downside was it was a 4 cylinder, but about a 2 litre motor. As a 6th former student, I would fill it up with 50 cents petrol and get about 20 kms out of her, LOL. Not an efficient car. But I got 8 fellow 7th formers in her one day when we decided to skip school.

When I finished school and went back to Fiji, I gave it to my mate. He ended up putting it in the demolition derby. He never said why,.....but I'm sure he regrets it now.. I'm sure it would still be running now.

Ta, Harcourt,.

After 18 months sitting garage, I wound it over for about 30 seconds, gave minutes rest and it started straight up.

WOW, thought sumfin would go wrong, old petrol was in me mind.

I run it on 98, as it has been all its life, 1st reg in Dec 1970, called a 1971 model as is the case, or was those days in OZ.

Tomorrow, Monday, is warrant and registration, wheeeeee......

Will need a new battery, no probs.

Hope it passes.

Pop in if ya have time, if passing.

Another step passed.

We have our marriage licence.

42 days to go.

Good luck and I hope we shall see some piccies. I love weddings.

So do I.

I'll be having my fourth later this year :)

Look !!! I've been married to the same woman for many many years, so I can say with weighty authority, consider suicide now......do yourself a favour.

That is why I wasn't invited. :):D:D

Have a good one Pete, and no matter how long the marriage lasts just remember the good times that made it all worth while.

But nobody will know who's who.....except for the bride and groom. I certainly won't mind.
