Now here's a concert piece.

Wind up the volume and blow the cobwebs out of the speakers

Very moving.....would have used up all my month's allocation of bandwidth though, lol.

I'm a big fan of Beethoven, Rachmaninov, and......Dvorak:

Wow, I keep forgetting about how much you guys get ripped off for internet.

Uncle ken, that was fantastic, I really enjoy that stuff, I would love to see it live. THANKYOU

Last week I went to see Peter Green playing live here in Cambridge. For those who don't know, he was the original founder of Fleetwood Mac, in the days of 1960's British Blues explosion. He and his co-lead guitarist, Danny Kirwan, were largely seen to be the kings of the wild Rock blues of those days (along with, of course, Clapton et al.)

Peter Green played for a year with the John Mayall Bluesbreakers before forming his own band, named after his favourite Rythm duo of Mick Fleetwood (Drums) and John McVie (Bass). Both of thes guys joined him as the weeks went by, leaving John Mayall with a very small band of Bluesbreakers indeed. (Mick Taylor of the Rolling Stones would replace Green's spot in that band)

Peter Green, Danny Kirwan, Mick Fleetwood and John McVie are all here. 1968 or 1969, in Oslo, Norway.

The vdo is out of focus for about 4 seconds.

Danny (blonder) takes lead, Peter (darker) takes the second 'voice'. This song is outstanding.

nb: Danny breaks a string about 1.50 into the vdo. Doesn't throw him for a second, doesn't break his pace. Outstanding.

and as Danny had a broken string, and had to go off and fix it, Green does a little solo number.

I really enjoyed last week's concert, though Peter is noticeably old, weary and slow. But he still has an outstanding guitar tone.

Among others he played Pretty Woman, At the Dark End of the Street, and a number of his own tunes (Oh Well, Albatross, etc...). He kept a lot of the good stuff for the encore with, of course his song, BLACK MAGIC WOMAN, a Peter Green original, later made famous by some mexican dude...

But this is something else from that night iun cambridge

Thanks for the clips of Peter.

Wonder if Gary Moore still has that guitar?

You can see/hear Moore got a lot of influence from Green.

Here he covers Greens jumping at shadows....

Since you like classical guitar, wrap ur little bo peeps around this lovely lass & she really can play.

she could serenade me anyday :)

yeah...excellent, the first one is an etude, un estudio, to exercise the scale...and what a magnificent instrument; the notes still resonate 10 minutes after hearing the piece...

I had a guitar made in Bolivia back in 1966...the guitarrero was a drunk and it took him 6 months to deliver the instrument...but, jezuz was it great...I left it there as I couldn't find a case to bring it with me back to the US...plus it was coveted by a friend who was a much better player than me and I just said 'toma!'

he was a biochemist and a talented musician...we useta play traditional andean music, him on quena (he used a recorder) and me on the box (the guitar was adapted as there are no stringed instruments in traditional andean music, it's a Spanish thing) and the time useta stand still...

as a warning to anyone that plays an instrument, don't ever put it down...playing music ain't like riding a bike; it's easy to ferget...

I bought a guitar last year after 35 years of no playing and now I can only do a few chords when before I could do rags to challenge Mississippi John Hurt...

use it or lose it... :)

^Okay, this isnt up to that standard, but you've got to remember this little champion is only 4 years and 4 months old in this video. Something here in LOS too.

:) tis a classic in the making.

^ truly amazing...when you listen to recordings of Paganini you wonder about the physical impossibility of accurately playing so many notes in succession...I don't particularly like Paganini's music but you gotta be a monster to play it successfully...

You can have all that classical crap.

Give me a show with LIFE.

Gilbert and Sullivan have never been surpassed.

Pete, I'm sorry that you haven't enjoyed some of the preceding concert pieces.

I'm not sure I can stoop so low as "Three Little Maids from School" or even "Tit Willow"

But if its "Sex, and Drugs and Rock 'n' Roll"

Try this (I saw them in Adelaide about 30 years ago)
