BANGKOK (NNT) -- The Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is 87% completed, with the official launch scheduled on 1 September 2010.

BMA Spokesperson Thanom Onketpol reported that the BRT Project for the route Chong Nonsi- Ratchapruek line had been completed by 87%.

The rest of civil structure and architectural details are expected to be finished by 1 May 2010 so that the operation can start on 15 May 2010.

Other remaining facilities are planned to be completed within 1 September 2010, the day of official operation has been scheduled with the fare set at 12-20 THB according to the distance.

We'll see if they actually make this schedule. It looks like it has been about 87% finished for the last two years. When I moved near the BRT line March 2008 it was scheduled to be operating August 08. After a few more dates were announced, the most recent before this was December 09, is it possible they will actually finish this bus route? I'm not sure how converting an already existing traffic lane to a 16 km bus lane has taken so long.

Does this mean the litigation over the bus procurement is nearing a conclusion?

Seems like the 300 mil that got lost in the project (reason why it was stopped for some time to allow DSI to "investigate") were found :)
