I am well aware of how the pricing here is mostly not negotiable..I was wondering what kind of extras/accesories you can get from the dealers here. I live in Pattaya but don't mind going to BKK if someone has a good contact for getting good deals.

First thing you had better take into consideration is how long it is going to take to get it

I visited several dealers in both Pattaya and Rayong and the earliest delivery I could get was mid May and this was three weeks ago

I opted for a Toyota, Vios, delivered in three weeks

The sales person in one Pattaya dealership was so proud that she could offer me a free Honda key chain if I ordered through her despite the wait :)

I was told I could get the car in July which is ok for me as I will be travelling most of june/july...I did go to the Motor Show and they were talking about 12,000 baht in accessories for free...also stopped into a dealer in BKK at Suk and Ekamai and the gal there offered me the following...window film, rubber mats, floor mats, door visor and plates for the door jams, tailgate spoiler and registration fee which she said was 2600 baht...once again July delivery

A cool think about the new city is the adjustable suspension. My wife's niece bought one, changed the wheels and lowered it. I asked why it was so low and she said they were adjusted, and still use the same springs. Looks the duck's nuts now.

True about price, but finance varies a great deal, depending on your situation. You may of course be buying cash. Wouldn't bother coming to BK, best to buy from a local dealer. I got next to nothing when I ordered my City last October from a dealer in Bangkok (I live in Bangkok); the salesman couldn't care less whether I bought one or not, to be honest. I got the first year's insurance (which all dealers provide on all cars), the windows filmed and floor mats, which I thought came as part of the car anyway. I'm interested to hear of discounts currently being offered at the motor show, but I wouldn't have waited just for that. I would have waited if I'd known about the Mazda 2 Sedan, but that's life. City's a great car BTW, I'm really happy with it.

I ordered one 2 weeks ago in Loei. Offered cash and all I got was window film, yee hah. As a farang I think our negotiating ability is limited. Like most things they see the farang and know they can achieve a premium. To be honest, knowing this I wasn't all that interested in haggling. I have a 2 month wait. They didn't even have one for test drive. Suppose it comes down to supply and demand. I'd be intersted to hear what you get. Good luck.

I bought a City in Pattaya, went in on the Monday and picked it up on the Thursday, I offered them cash for the showroom car, all the extras plus I even got a Honda Umbrella !

Colour = Metallic Grey. Polished steel metallic I think it's called. A very nice little car all round.

I went on an economy run to Loei City from Phu Kradung, that Honda City returned over 25 Kms per Litre !!!!! Straight road doing approx 80 KPH all the way and of course only one set of traffic lights in Wang Sapung to deal with, my wife was driving the City and I even managed over 15 Kms per litre in my Fortuner which I was driving.

Great little all rounder, you'll be amazed at the economy if you are light footed, I drove it from Pattaya to Loei and averaged 17.8 Kms per Litre, I was quite heavy footed with it though.

Thanks..I will go to BKK and order it with all the extras they promised me...I guess that it is a good deal

I went to Motor show and bought Toyota yaris E, the discount and free stuff depends on Sales, lucky I met new sales who discounted me 15,000 baht first and offered many free stuff like TRD skirt, sun frames, mats, first class insurance, free beautiful cabin package and accessories , focus lamp etc. But said I have to wait for 1 month. I decided to book it and next day she called that one of her colleague can't sell the Yaris E due to her customer finance approval problem, but there is no TRD Skirt and she discounted more 10,000 Baht. So totally I got 25,000 baht discount and that sale girl really took good care which they even send the person to my office to sign the papers and all.

I am sure you're capable of making your own deals, but I would like to tell you that I was in a similar situation myself a month ago when I was in the market for a new car. Thanks to many posters here I realised that it is difficult to get cash discount (even though a few others actually did), but I understood that if I could only overcome my moral and western business ethics that prevented me from asking for more stuff I would get more presents. So, to make a long story short, I asked for more or less every accessory in the book, and got it. So my advice to you is, ask for more, more, more and even more and they’ll give it to you if you show some cash (make them understand that you're serious about buying).

Good Luck with the new car.

Hey mate!

I got my new Honda City 2010 from Honda shop in Hua Hin. Sorry to be a little bit off topic but I thought you, or others, perhaps would like to know this anyway. We got no cash discounts at all but I found out that extras are very cheap in Thailand. I didn't find the car to be cheap but that is ok as all the extras would have cost me a fortune in Europe. It's fun to tune/style your car here!

The service recieved was excellent service as well I must say.

We wanted white colour so had to wait two months for it. Also ordered the full Modulo set with skirts, spoilers and lists. Got parking sensors, rubber mats, tinted windows, sports steering wheel and some other stuff I can't remember.

First thing we did after was to visit the tyre shop Kosol whis is a few km north of Hua Hin, towards Cha Am. They buy back the already rather nice tyres you get for 11000 baht if you buy new tyres with them if you do this at once. Got some very nice low profile 17"s in exchange for old (new) tyres and another 7000 baht.

Lowering the car was 5000 baht and was done at same shop, Kosol. Be careful to lower too much though as roads in Thailand sometimes are not suitable for it. We already have some scratches underneath.

We framed the plates both back and front and also withing glass windows.

The last thing we did, and this was tricky, was to change the hood. I wanted a more sportish look but it was hard to find new hoods for the 2010 model of city and the ones we found were mostly made of carbon fiber. They are, in my opinion, a bit too light to support accidents. So after having talked to the Honda shop, the seller arranged for the modification of it if we could provide some pictures how we wanted it. Price was 10000 baht for this and it looks really good now. Looks like have air inlets on hood but they are fake as I guess it is not suitable to push hot air into the engine compartment.

Also, during the time we waited for extras, the seller came over to our house two times! One time just to give a small gift for us (toy cloth dog to have in back window, haha, but nice touch) and also to give some paperwork we still waited for. Also, they came over to pick up the car for us when it was time for hood change so we didnt have to go back with taxi.

Now the car looks very nice and next thing to change is the muffler/exhaust system, possibly getting two of them although that requires change of backskirt to portoset. 8)

Good luck, mate!

Ps Oh yeah, they also gave us key chains, two of them =). I actually found that to be a nice touch. And we got a plastic weather protection cover for the car.

Sounds like you put together a very "hot" car....good luck with it...did you get free insurance when you made the deal?
