Missing Mini Beast

Featured Replies

Well, the little Mini Beast (Honda CZi 110 Fuel Injection) has developed a miss. At idle I can hear the miss and now the high beam indicator momentarily goes completely out, confirming the miss fire.

It now has 15,500 kms and I had the spark plug and air filter replaced at 14.5 k. I know they put in a new plug because I watched the mechanic take it out of the box and I kept the old plug, which looked ok. No miss after the plug replacement.

I've noticed the miss over several tanks of fuel, so I don't think its bad fuel.

I think I will put the old plug back in and see what that does. Maybe its a fuel injection issue? What do you guys use to clean fuel injectors?

It still starts on the first kick and fuel consumption has not changed. Running at higher RPMs seems to have no change and I have not noticed a drop in power. It has however died a couple of times on take off, which never happened before.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance :)

You say it only "misses" at idle but it doesn't miss anywhere else in the rev range.

Could be just a slow idle. ECU should take care of that though.

On a carburettored bike it might be that the air bleed screw needs adjusting but with injection I don't know if there is an adjustment for that.

I had though the light may go out because of slow idle but then realised the the battery should take care of that.

Bung the right proportion of injector cleaner in there it can't do any harm. When in doubt use the chemical cure first.

Otherwise Gremlins!

Thanks Neal. Yes, as far as I can tell, only misses at idle. I'll try bumping the idle speed a tad. Maybe I will have to let the problem "develop" to get at the source :)

Hi Lancelot,

Why don't you take the bike to a Honda mechanic on the 16/04 when holiday's over. It don't cost a fortune here as you know. :)

Well, you are right of course. You know how guys are, playing with their boys toys, LOL! I just thought I would do some basic trouble shooting and wondered if any other posters had similar experiences or ideas :D
