It was 17mm lens on a Canon EOS 20D

Not that wide really as the 20D is a cropped image SLR.

If you download the full size image from the web site, the EXIF info is there to be seen.

I don't see that particularly as a wide-angle lens shot at all. It reminds me of a few crowd shots I have taken in Washington with just a very typical SLR lens. It's certainly been cropped.
