I have bought a car with the gf i wanted 40% she wanted 60% we settled on 50%. The car wont be delivered until july but now i start to doubt about the tint in the windows. I wonder if it is too dark, will i have good night vision.

Could anyone give a good comment on this.

Personally I'd tint the side and back windows at 60 but I would not tint the windshield. You'll have serious problems with night vision.

In my CRV I have 50% front and 90% all over. This is standard from the Honda dealer. I have no problem day or night and the car stays very cool

I rent a car in Bali with side windows with 60% film. Dawn and nighttime I must drive with the glass open...

We bought a Honda jazz and settled for 50%. I hope you are right because i would hate to have to redo it.

its not as hard as you might think. I thought the fully tinting of the windscreen was illegal over here?

Same as tinted Motorcycle visors.

I wouldn't go over 40% for the windshield. 60% is way to dark IMO. There are just too many things on the Thai roads - motorcycles, noodle wagons, dogs, kids, etc. etc....

Make sure you get a good tint, however.... they are definitely not the same. And also, 40% from some brands will look very different than 40% from other brands.

How cool is it reverse parking at night? It must be about the same like having no windows on the sides and the rear of your car. When coming out of a sideway at night, do you see motorbikes coming, especially if they don't lights on? I would not dare think about that much of tinting.

I have never had any problem. The difference between 60% and 90% is very minor. Unless you drive with doom light turned on

They do a reflective tint keep's the car cool and you can see very well. Had a hire car once with 60% tint, at night I had to drive with the window's open to see what was coming out of side road's, Crazy. Who are you any way a film star. In the west it would be totaly ilegal. Dont what ever you do put it on the screen. If you decide to go for the screen tint. Let us all know how long before you have the first accident. Best of luck. And get no: one insurance. Tip never listen to a Thai.

Just had a thought you could tint the top of the screen. Sit in car and see where your vision line is below the top, and put the tint strip to about an inch above that. Keep's the sun out and dosn't bugger you view.

With all my previous cars I have had 40% around and the frontscreen onlya sunvisor od about 20 cm at the top.If you put 60% you will not see at the sides of your cart at night.Even with 40% you already have to roll down the windows when in reverse if there are no streetlights.

You have serious problems with all vision any time, any tint beyond the factory tint it is too much..

There are very real reasons why the percentages most of you are talking about are illegal in Europe. I like driving night time, I have driven tens of thousands of kilometers in Thailand night time, I would never do it in a car with more than 40% tint, even that is too much to be safe night time. If I remember right, I think that the law in Thailand actually says 20%.

Thai's are stupid and want lot's of tint because it looks cool and perhaps in some cases because they worry about getting sun tanned, not caring about the safety of it until they go to the funeral. I would hope that westerners, if they do the same, let their children go with someone else's cars, when the sun is down :)
