Can I suggest you push your exposure, or use flash. You are getting some great shots - this one and the butterfly actually flying but the pale background makes the subject too dark. Keep these shots coming - they are interesting.

Some sort of fly?

Robber or Assassin Fly. There are thousands of different types and they live on pretty well any insect they can catch: dragonflies, spiders moths and other types of fly. Very aggressive and efficient killers. like many insects it is just as well they are not the size of a horse, otherwise I think we would be in trouble. Well spotted.

it was taken in a butterfly park in Bante Shrey near Siem Reap. The guide said it was s "birdwing'.. but 'birdwing" "batwing" same same??

I was amazed at how big it was :0

The local farmers collect the cocoons and get paid by the butterfly park where the raise them.. pretty awesome really. smile.png)

There is a butterfly place in Chatuchack park in BKK that's worth visiting, great vegetation as well as butterflies :

Some kinda lizard thing

Ahhhhh...The Southeast Asian Water Monitor...Varanus salvator...just as at home

in the water as it is on land. Have heaps around our place in Ranong. A couple of

em even have namesas they're kinda friendly...in a big lizard sort of way...

These big critters are endemic out here David.

They sure are big mean looking dinosaurs to be roaming around the the public parks, though no more harmful than a so dog I would guess
