I used to service mine at Sinthanee, as I bought it there. The main Honda shop is over near the clock tower, I believe. A friend has his serviced at the Greenwing next to Doi Chaang Coffee shop and swears by them. Take your choice.

Make sure they check out the cam chain tensioner. They normally say it needs to be changed at 25000km but one friend blew his around 10000km. Much cheaper to change it early than to wait until it fails.

While you are at it, it looks like you should pop over the boarder and get yourself some protective gear. ;)

Yeah get ya point, believe me i have tried but cant find my size ive had a look in BKK CM and the Rai but not found anything to fit, where exactly do you mean (over the boarder) ?,would love to know,i'd also like to buy some waterproofs if you know anywhere, cheers.

The idea of preventive maintenance can be very hard to convey to Thai mechanics. You are supposed to abuse your machine until it breaks, then fix it accordingly.

I know where ur coming from but just cos we live here doesn't mean we have to live like or behave the same,i've never adopted to the theory (why fix it if it's not broken) because it kills,so i believe good mentenance/checks are essential,so anyway whatever your happy with and you can get a good nights kip thats ok,i think feeling safe is being safe regardless.

I am halfway between BKK and Chiang Mai and I got my protective stuff at the Paddock shop in BKK.

AFAIK they will post it to you and they have at least one person who speaks good English there.

I hope that helps or you could try The Golden triangle Riders here at their site

My Phantom has clocked just over 20,000 km and I am going to the Honda dealer at Khampaeng Phet to check up about the cam chain tensioner replacement this week.

I went with a friend to Mae Sai. We crossed over the boarder went down some stairs to the right on the other side and kept walking straight, as I remember. There is only the one shop, that I know of, that sells helmets, jackets, gloves, boots etc. The largest boots seemed to be 12 US or 45/46 Eu. I have seen jackets up to 3XL but I think their stock can vary a lot from day to day.

Sorry I don't have better information but it was my first time and I wasn't paying much attention to detail, since I had someone showing me the way.
