I've been a member of ThaiVisa for a lot of years and am a pretty flexible guy. Have seen a lot of odd posters, posts when drunk, flamers, etc. Today though, I finally had to just find a way to never see an individual. Have you ever used this feature? Does it make ThaiVisa a better place?

Like wise I try to be flexible, but luckily quite laid back, so nobody has ruffled me enough to warrant any more than a response. I think if a person chooses to use ignore, fine, their choice, after all we all want to enjoy TV and if only one individual is spoiling it for a person .......hit that button!!!

There is a fatal flaw in the ignore system as usually the typpe of person you'd want to ignore continually makes assinine and provoking posts. Just the sort of posts to draw a response from less disciplined internet warriors and of course this exchange is not blocked, defeating the purpose of the whole system.

I think it makes Thaivisa a better place, and it certainly helps me because I often find it difficult to bite my tongue when a particularly obnoxious poster makes yet another stupid comment. If I reply, things just go downhill from there, so it is best to use "ignore".

I particularly like the newest version of software that hides the ignored person's avatar as well, so often I don't even realise that the idiot has posted.

No, I never block anyone. I get amused when people attack me on the internet. And, I'm willing to debate any topic with anyone. People who flame others are just emphasizing their own deficiencies.

When people drive me to the brink of despair I find it better to put myself on ignore.

I just take time out from the haunts of the offender and keep myself to the local sub-forum with the occasional innocuous comment on finding the local tourist attractions.

Abuse of yourself or someone you care about is something different, if you allow it you become the abuser's punk. Regardless of the penalties you have to retaliate, no forum is worth that.

I give everyone 1 free pass on personal insults, everyone has bad days, a 2nd personal insult and they are on the list.

I don't mind different opinions, or asinine opinions (I have plenty of those myself), but personal insults are just bang out-of-order, as well as against forum rules.

Why the mods don't take more action is beyond me.

When most of the people who are abusive, flame festers, or trolls post, it is well past their bedtime, or their Mommy wants her computer back so a bout of petulance ensues. I try to think of this and count to ten before falling for the trap and joining in the slug fest the youngsters are trying to start. Came close this week in " Random Posts ", but the bedtime and Mommy thought, helped a lot.

A little unecessary to post your personal list, whilst you may have problems with these particular members others do not, and could be considered a borderline personal slur.

If there would be an easy button to use for the Ignore Function I would put more Members on Ignore. However its hidden somewhere and I usually can not be bothered to look it up again. But some did made it there in the end.

I was intrigued by this comment, how do you get into a flame in RP's one of the more innocuous threads in Bedlam, so I went in there to have a peek.

My conclusion, extraordinary self restraint, I would have got myself barred methinks, even allowing for English not being the first language, a pathetic statement to make.

Just seen the offending post myself and I tilt my hat to suiging for not biting, I know that I would have.

You know, I believed that line of crap also, until I saw that thread by "miperry' wherin he talked about his son being abducted. I reported several abusive posts, all by the same member. All kinds of other nasty characters came out of the woodwork too and the moderators didn'nt do a thing. Yeah, there might be more to the story than the single side we heard, but it was clearly not ThaiVisa's finest hour.

I have some friends who I have told not to tell me their TV usernames. Twice now I've gotten emails with "You Basta*d!" or something similar after handing them a time out.
