PHUKET: -- Phuket Immigration will conduct a training session for hotel staff and apartment owners taking part in an Internet-based tracking system of foreigners living in Phuket.

Phuket Immigration Superintendent Panuwat Ruamrak said his office is already at work creating a database of accommodation establishments catering to foreigners.

Owners of these establishments will then be able to more easily report the identities of foreigners staying with them.

The database will allow authorities to better track the movements of aliens living on the island and improve security for Thai citizens and expats alike, Col Panuwat said.

Immigration officers will conduct the Thai-language training, tentatively scheduled to start at 8:30am on July 20 at the ICT (Sipa) building at Saphan Hin, within walking distance from Phuket Immigration Headquarters on Phuket Rd.

Those who would like to join the session can call Phuket Immigration at 076-221905 ext 118 to reserve a seat or apply online in English by clicking here:

Please check with Phuket Immigration to confirm the date and time of the training, which is still yet to be confirmed.
