Based on the feedback here I went out and bought the Stone Roses and Jeff Buckley's albums. Both worthy contenders and thanks all for the input.

Jeff Buckley's is not only a debut album but his sole album. I had considered posting it but didn't think anyone would know it given some of the other music choices I've seen here. Ok, here;s me apologizing..

BTW, presumably you all know this Dylan song is about Jeff Buckley's untimely death. Far from the best version of this song but pretty nice anyhow.

What's interesting about Jeff's debut album is that he covered Leonard Cohen's "Halleljuah". Now Leonard is a great songwriter but is a horrible singer. I don't think too many people disagree with that. What's worse is that as bad as he sings, generally he sings his own songs better than most of those who would try to cover them. That is, until Jeff Buckley came along. Beautiful rendition of Hallelujah on the album.

the stone roses - the stone roses dedut album has to be up there with one of them!

Got to go with that one.

Me two

Terence Trent Darby

I think he only made the one album but it was supposedly one of the most successful debut albums of all time.
