Stevie Wonder - Songs in the Key of Life

The best album ever made, fact. :o

The insert has all words is like a big storybook. It is an absolute work of art, the classic of classics. :D

Innervisions might have the slight edge over Songs in the Key of Life for me, but they're both amazing albums and the latter album manages to remarkably sustain itself over a double-album length, plus an EP. :D

Had to cry today - Traffic

Traffic or Blind Faith?

Was (Not Was) - Born to Laugh at Tornadoes

Traffic , it's a bootleg version released after Winwood first penned the song [ Before Blind faith formed..... :o ]....

Nah you got me - Blind Faith - the album with the dodgy topless cover..................... :D

It’s already written that today will be one to remember

The feeling’s the same as being outside of the law

Had to cry today

Well, I saw your sign and I missed you there

I’m taking the chance to see the wind in your eyes while I listen

You say you can’t reach me but you want every word to be free

Had to cry today

Well, I saw your sign and I missed you there

And I missed you there

Had to cry today ...

The Jungle Brothers; What u Waitin 4....! :o

Come on!

Jump up freak a hustle

Do what you want but move every muscle

Ain't no time for playing around

Only one thing to do when you hear this sound

Act yourself with someone else

And make sure yourself ain't by yourself

Dyin' to get on the dance floor

Girl what you waiting for?

Come on over and swing with me

take your mind out yo' misery

Tomorrow's gonna be another day

Tonight, I'm gonna take it- life

Grab the world and put it on hold

Relax my body and rest my soul

Feel the vibe surrounding me

Feel the bass come down on me

Shake your butt but don't break your back

Tap your feet and let your fingers snap

No matter what size shape or colour

We can jam and enjoy each other

Music's pumpin' I feel something

Must be my blood and h! eartbeat thumpin

Dispense your funds to pass through the door

You know there's room for you on the floor

(You don't know if they'll be any more)

So yo, what you waiting for?

(Chanting in background)

"Waiting the timeless time"

Yeah, yeah, some playin' a wall

I wasn't with that, not livin' like that

You ain't with it let me hear you say ho

You ain't with it let me hear you say aaaaoooo (aaaooo)

Ready to boogie I had on my dancin' shoes

Ain't in the mood to be singing no blues

So if you want to be a little disco ducka

I came here tonight to

So good morning, good afternoon, good night

don't let the bedbugs bite

Going way out when I'm aiming to please

You havin' a good time, climb up my trees

C'mon what you waiting for?

C'MON what you waiting for?

"Waiting the timeless time"

Side to side, and just let it ride

Give what you got, no need to hide

You're allowed as long as your able

Take away the chairs and move away the tables

I'm doing my thing working around you

Ladies screaming (We wanna house you!)

We won't say much on this no now

Cause I'm not quite sure that you know how

But keep on dancin', (Keep on dancing!)

Baby on not clockin' you, I'm just glancin'

And what I see now is a fine figure-8

(Don't Make me Wait)

Yeah waiting for the DJ to play my song

O Lord, I must have waited all night long!

The joint was packed and it looked like a jungle,

I felt at home, there goes my song

S! o I hit the floor and jumped on the case,

Sweat pouring from my face

Clothes was wet by I didn't care

You know what I'm saying (I know what you're sayin')

So come on girl come on girl come on

Let's Let's Let's Get it on

I'm dyin' to get out on the floor

I waited long enough; I can't wait no more!

Come on girl come on girl come on

Let's Let's Let's Get it on

I'm dyin' to get out on the floor

I waited long enough; I can't wait no more!

Yeah, Uh, Uh, Yeah, Uh, Yeah, etc

Chumbawamba: 'Unilever'

I reckon that 'Pictures of..............' is one of the best LP's (of its genre).

There again I've never heard anything like it........

I saw Buddy and Junior Wells at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, 1968 as an opening act for Janis...they almost stole the show. Later they appeared at a blues club in SF, a shadow of their former selves in early 80's...stumbled drunk onto the stage after 2 hours of the crowd waiting, did some tootlin' about then stumbled off 30 mins after...

reminds me ob the time I saw Big Mama Thornton at the Ash Grove in LA early 70s...she could hardly stand up she was so drunk but she managed to toss off a couple of licks in her inimitable style...she died soon after, spending her last days in a park in Watts sharing bottles of white port...

when you play de blues you gots to know about de pain ob libben...

:o way cool story tuts!!! And funny (cool, not funny haha) I followed listening to that with i have of buddy & wells playing "t-bone shuffle" and "my baby she left me" - the only two tracks I have of the two of them together. Been having a bit if a B.guy day today, all his collaborations with others, SRV.. eric... from the 70's and eighties... and the srv tribute concert....especially when eric and BGuy get up together.. they are always, from the early days to latter days, sparring and having fun, it comes out in their guitars so cleearly.. great stuff :D

Anybody got more Buddy Guy Stories? That guy, to me, is one of the greatest. Combines so much goodness from so many, and makes it his own. Bloody marvellous man.

Listening to: Lil Johnson, (selected lyrics reprinted here: )

If you don't like my sweet potato, what made you dig so deep?

If you don't like my sweet potato, what made you dig so deep?

In my potato field three, four times a week

Whooping, I've been whooping, whooping all night long

Whooping, I've been whooping, whooping all night long

Whooping, I've been whooping, ever since my man been gone

(spoken:

Oh, swing that thing, Mr. Avery!

You play that thing so good!

Ooh, them blues sure sound good this morning

Don't kill that half-pint!)

My dog jumped a rabbit, the rabbit fell down on his knees

My dog jumped a rabbit, the rabbit fell down on his knees

He looked up at the dog and said, "Won't you have mercy on me, please"

Just as sure as you hear me sing this song

Just as sure as you hear me sing this song

You'll never miss your jelly till your

jelly roll

is gone

Now listening to Buddy Guy & SRV with I believe Ry Cooder.

It's a blues track I can't place.. Jimi did this track too though... I think... :o

It's like a mix of Red House and Once I had a woman, same same but very different... sort of... I've got it entitled only as "Blues Jam", a 25 minute jam from a concert of Buddy Guy's where he invites up "My best friend.. The best guitarist, C'mon up here Stevie..." Any idea's...?

Messing with the kid' by Buddy and Junior Wells..

Wasn't that by Rory Gallaghar?

No, he played a great version of it , but many of Rory's tracks were old RnB standards written by US Bluesmen.
