I want to extend my 2 month tourist visa in Bangkok. As far as I can see there is a new immigration office in Chaeng Watthana. This is where I should go? I ask this as on the google map for immig offices this office deals with: Saraburi, Chainat, Lopburi, Ang Thong, Singburi. No mention of Bangkok. The Thai website also still shows the office in Satorn Rd as the place to go.I need 2 passport photos and 1900 baht?Planning to go this Friday, 22 April.

Yes you use Chiang Watanna, Soi 7. Believe only one photo required for TM.7 when done in Bangkok. Expect copies of passport data page/arrival card and visa/entry will likely be required and 1,900 baht fee.

Thanks for that Lopburi. Concise and to the point. Is it worth saying that sticking the immig office out in Nonthanburi seems like a bad idea?

* A followup question. My visa expires on a Sunday. If I let it expire for one day can I pay the 500b fine, and then extend the visa, or is it entirely invalidated with the overstay? I will most likely be in Surat Thani on the Monday, which should be a little less difficult to get the extension.

If you do on Monday it should not be a problem as if immigration is closed you can always do on first day open.

For future it is best to do a week or so early as you do not lose any days - it still starts at the end of current stay.

Thanks but HEY !! I was told that the extra 30 days starts from the day the visa is extended, by a few people. So you can lose days by extending early.

I am asking, are you sure of this?

Yes I am sure.

And you are not extending a visa but a permitted to stay date.

Many thanks for that info. Owe you a beer.

Will get the extension tomorrow - insert obligatory rant at the unnecessary difficulties of all of this.
