I will be travelling thailand in a few weeks and will be doing alot of adventure/beach related activities. We decided the best way to end our trip would be the full moon party. is it on the 17th or 18th of october?

I've read somewhere yesterday (don't ask me where, can't remember ) that fullmoonparty is on the 19th this month?!

18th, it only falls on the day after the full moon when the full moon is a major Buddhist holiday. No major Buddhist holiday this full moon, so it is on the 18th.

Im thinking about going to a Full Moon Party next year sometime.. just wondering what the percentage of foreigners to thai people there in general, and what people tend to do with accomodation... do many people stay out all night and not have accomodation or does the party start to die down at a certain time when everyone goes to sleep?

Mostly farangs, some thais. Most people arrive a few days before the party and get accomodation.In high season it is just foolishness to arrive the day of the party and hope to find a room. And do you really want to go to an all night party (music stops around noonish) without being able to go shower and sleep? And then, of course, there is the afterparty at the Backyard, which starts up when the main party on the beach dies down and goes until night.

SBK, what part of the island your bungalows at and do you do reservations?

My brother and his gf will be down on Koh Phangan for New Year as I may well be and was thinking of getting rooms ready booked for them as they will not be arriving on the island until 28th/29th Dec.

I was just thinking about the party. I'm an experienced raver so I think they suck. I can see how it was once tight. It jumped the shark. But still go just to see a sad sighting. Only the people who got really f'ed up have a good time.

Last time I went to a FMP was 1995, had a look and left. It was all trance in those days (which I cannot stand) so I didn't stay long. Neither one of us uses drugs or drinks that much so it wasn't really interesting anyway. However, if you do like to get hammered, I have heard it is fun.
