Cost Of Vehicle Ownership

Recommended Posts

Lots of 4 door pickups with White plate with green numbers. [have 4 personal friends with 4 door pickup with green No, there Thai and also use for Business & Private]........ Likewise many 2 door pickups with White Plate with black numbers [3 house up in my Village is a 2 door Vigo with Black No]

My accountant always told me that a 4 door pick up can't be deducted as business vehicle. If 2 doors no problem.

Strange Accountant, Crew Cabs are 4 Door,Green Numbers get stoped for using the 3Rd Lane by the way.Hi End pickups cant have green, that fiddles been twigged.

I don't think I've ever seen a 4 door on green plates or a 2 door on black. Our 4 door Ranger is registered to the business, but has black plates.

Photo evidence please.

NOTE The extended cabs with rear suicide doors count as 2 door for tax / registration purposes.

If you want I will go to the day local market next Sunday and take my cam with me ? How many pics do you want ?

Just one each of a 4 door on an obviously green plate and a 2 door on a black plate will do :)

Then I'll shut up.

At the risk of being a broken record again it is still not been explained.

Maybe it is only in the Sukhothai province that I was led to believe 4D truck were classed as big cars hence 6,800 for road if you have a 2D it's 2,500, and Ins is cheaper too.:)

Clearly 4 door + White with Green letters

Now for something different, white plate with Blue letters in a 4 door pickup

if you have a pickup, 2 or 4 door, and install seating in bed making it seat 10, you should inspect it and have blue on white plates which also requires Insurance for 10 people.

2 door or 2+2 seating 2-3 according to reg book, are insured only for 2-3

4 door insured for 5-7

Ok let's make it more confusing.Today when I left carrefour Pattaya at the exit there were 2 private taxis, that is Pick ups that are allowed by Carrefour to take customers. Both were fairly new pick ups, 2 door with extended cabin. Both had a seating bed installed similar to the bath buses.

One had white plate with blue letters while the other had white plate with green letters.

to be legal to take paying passengers, they should have black on yellow plates

blue on white is road legal to seat 10 or more

green on white is road legal and insured to take 2-3 people

What about the legalities of people just sitting in the back of the pickup, as In my 2 door pickup with green/white plates.

It is not legal, but just as samlors it is ignored as it is Thai infrastucture/transportation. Not legal in my 4 door PU neither.

Only enforced on Expressways

Question is do we as owners and drivers have any financial responsibilty for people in bed in case of accident, as they are not insured? Hope not :)
