Hi,

I have a situation where I have to attach a small PVC pipe to

a larger one, and can not use one of the standard methods

to make the attachment.

I have see the Thais to do PVC welding before. I wonder

how reliable that welding is ?

Does anybody know someone who can do such a job ? Or has

anybody any experience doing this kind of work and can give

me recommendations ?

I live in Pattaya.

Thanks,

rudi

Assume you are talking about the blue PVC used mainly for water. PVC has many sizes and connectors. I feel sure there is a reducer available to change the size of the connection you have.

When PVC pipes are "glued" together this process is more of a "weld" due to the chemical reaction of the PVC and the solvent used for bonding the two pieces. So in reality the joining of 2 PVC pipes is in effect welding as the pvc of each piece melts together to form a bond that when done correctly cannot separate.

In Canada I have welded plastic. Used a thermostatically controlled heat gun and plastic rods of the same type as the pieces to be joined.

Done ABS, PVC, HDPE.

Correct temp is the key, along with the correct filler rod.

Don't breathe the vapors - deadly stuff.

Thanks for all the pointers !

Has anybody come a cross a company or contractor who can do this ?

I am a bit worried about doing it myself now ... don't want for the thing to leak ;-)

Thanks,

Call a local pool company they use this technique quite often here.. Likely can handle the task or give you a reference to inquire with..
