Rent A Motorbike In Bangkok

Came back two weeks ago from a week in Bangkok and rented a Kawasaki KLX250. I can really say that this was the best decision which I did. Because you come around, you see a lot and it is really a lot of fun.

Franck, the owner is French, can speak fluently Thai and he has a great selection of bike, from 125cc to 650cc, but for the city I prefer the smaller bikes as the big ones are to heavy.

Renting the bikes is not really that cheap compared to the Philippines where I lived the last couple of years. For a 250cc bike you need to pay 1.000 Baht a day for the week it is 5.600 Baht, the cheapest would be for a full month which will set you back 11.600 Baht.

His house with the bikes is along Ramkhamhaeng Road Soi 50, Hua Mark, Bang Kapi, 10240 Bangkok, GPS: 13.755025 N und 100.642975 E

I was very happy with the bike, took the KLX250, even it had motard tires I enjoyed it a lot. I would rent one again, but since I am moving over to Bangkok this October, I will buy my own KLX250.

He also had a D-Tracker but I got the KLX but with Motard tires. Another pic from a brandnew KLX as well.

After I returned the bike to Franck, I was waiting in Friday afternoon traffic for a Taxi, and non I tried to stop wanted to bring me back to Sukhumvit. Fortunately there was a Thai woman also waiting there and she saw me, she asked me where I wanted to go and I told her but she said they will go somewhere else. Then her husband came by by car and picked her up. But it was very traffic and they waited in front of me und suddenly they told me to hop in they would bring me to a place where I would be able to go back easily. They brought me to the Airport Express Station Huamark. Very very kind of them, from there I took the train two stations to Makkasan via Ramkhamhaeng and walked over to the Phetchaburi MRT station and took the MRT one station to Sukhumvit and then I took the Skytrain another station to Nana where I took a motortaxi back to my hotel and I guess since it was Friday afternoon, I was quickly back, even had enough time to walk over to Gullivers for some food and drink.

I am riding a lot here in Manila and the chaos is comparable but I was a bit hesitant at first because of the unknown traffic on the left side. I was actually thinking to get a NAVI but I would have had no time to look at it because I had to concentrate on the road. But I rode around a lot and I somehow always found it back.

But of course the police stopped me once. Because I came down from Wireless and turned right to Sukhumvit, I was wondering why all bikes went straight and I was the only one turning. It was raining like crazy and I was wet and just wanted to go back to the hotel. So the croc stopped me, he hardly spoke English and I did not speak any Thai. Since I also forget to bring my International License (actually brought one but left it in the hotel due to the big size) and my Philippine license looked suspicious to him, anyway he kept on demanding I pay 800 Baht, due to no license. Somehow he never mentioned the violation of turning there. He also tried to get my key, because I kept on pushing forward. In the end I had to follow him to his shack under the bridge. I always repeated that I will not pay as I have a license and I did not know about the corner. Anyway in the end I placed a 100Baht under some papers on the desk and turned to leave, he just let me go but shouted at me to bring my license the next time. So I just found out that the crocs are as corrupt as in Manila, so nothing is going to change for me, he he he.

But despite this I loved the bike, I even went along Sukhumvit in the direction of Pattaya for about an hour, passed by the three-headed elephant and the crocofarm, Somehow the traffic went lighter and lighter. Probably will be heading this way more often once I live there...

I like the fact there is a big bike hire place in bkk. just don't like the fact that he doesn't do any 250 road bikes (as in not supermoto)

theres plenty of places renting bikes in bangkok

i rented a pcx to test it out from www.bangkok-motorbike-rentals.com but the thai lady is more interested in long term rentals (speaks perfect english though)

they are beside suttisan police station and MRT station

It would be great if you could provide a more detailed address and contact details. I have previously searched for motorbike rental in Bangkok and came up only with Franck and another place where I did not find clear infos. Also do they also rent bigger bikes or at least the KLX250 from that [place or do they have only small scooter?

mostly automatic scooters but i think all rental places are like that ,i asked about the cbr awhile ago when it was new and they had a waiting list of people who wanted to rent it so i didnt wait but she said they rent them out to long term stayers usualy

if u just need to test pilot one for a day or a few hours go to pattaya ,they will thriow the keys at you for a passport and a couple of grand

i think most of the shops in bkk could rent you a 250cc some thing

Wana .. we are talking big bikes here.... I do not think there are many for big bikes.

But thank you for that one... Bangkok's best kept secret.

that must not be the case I have ridden a bike in Manila (similar traffic to BKK) for 7 years daily and I never had an issue. Of course if you are afraid of riding in the city and have that always in mind, that something might happen, then for sure you will have an accident at one time.

Of course as a rider in Bangkok, you need to be ALWAYS aware of the mistakes others do and act acordingly as you don't have a crumple zone as a car.

My post was mainly to let riders know that there is a place where you could get a bike in Bangkok, even if you need to reserve the bike at some time because his bikes are in high demand.

We have an office in RAMA 9 soi 62 now to receive our costumers instead of my home ,very easy access by Ramkhamaheng BTS ,half way airport / downtown .

We start to propose Gears,jackets,accessories... for sale as well.

I'm actually testing on few bikes some aftermarket devices from Europe like sport ECUs,O2 sensors,performance chips... for all kind of bikes/ATVs available on Thai market Kawasaki,Honda,Ducati,KTM,HD,BMW...

Good devices will be displayed at BBR shop Rama 9.
