September 27, 201114 yr Found a Michelin seller in CNX and prices look pretty good, i actually paid more for some IRC's on my last bike ! Michelin Pilot Sporty: 90 / 80 -17 = 1000 100 / 80 - 17 = 1200 110 / 80 - 17 = 1400 130 / 70 - 17 = 1600 130 / 80 - 17 = 1700 They said it takes a week to order them up from Bangkok, i'm placing an order next week, so if anyone wants some lets hook it up. One set of 90 and 110 for me.

I will drop my tyre pressure if it rains for long enough on a long ride. Always nice to have that little bit of extra purchase area (tyre foot print). Believe me, it does make a difference, well on a heavier bike from my experience.

September 29, 201114 yr Author Is anyone currently using the Michelin Pilot Sporty? Can only find reviews on the net and there seems to be some fakes around especially in the Phillipines. Do you remember the color of the wrapper it came in?
September 29, 201114 yr Author Yes, from what ive read on the net there is a clear wrapper and a grey wrapper. Or maybe the grey wrapper is mistaken as clear...??? How did they hold the corners? Any good in the rain?

October 11, 201114 yr Author Michelin Pilot Sportys just arrived ! Took 8 days to get them up from BKK do to the flood. I must say these appear to be some pretty sticky tires. I haven't mounted them yet but just picking them up and fondling them with my bare hands they're sticky to the touch . The Date codes are 2911 for the front and 3311 for the rear (29 & 33 are 29th & 33rd weeks of the year.) So they are fresh manufactures only a couple months old. I also noticed there are 8 little itty bitty Michelin dudes right on the edge of the rubber close to the sidewall to indicate authenticity and came in a clear wrapper, reports out of the Phillipines say fakes ones come with light grey wrappers. Front is a 90/80-17, the rear is a 110/80-17 and rotation indicators dictate that the 110 can be used for either front or rear. Tires came just in time, the stock IRC's were getting slippery and starting to crack after being manufactured two years ago. If interested there is a used tire shop at the Chang Puek bus station (CNX) that uses a bead breaker machine to mount tires instead of tire irons, i'll be going there tomorrow...they do bikes too. But not sure if they do balancing also, will report back tomorrow. Went to many car tire shops today to get them mounted but no one would touch them unless i took the wheels off the bike. Didn't want to go to a little tire repair shop and get my rims scratched up with tire irons.
October 11, 201114 yr I heard those tires suck and ppl crash on them all the time! Well dont know were you heard that...they are 200% better than the Irc's. Why do people crash on them? They wear out pretty fast but are very grippy.

They have gotten my buddies ER6N and ZX10R tyres changed with no issues. Supposedly they have a specialist outlet (not located there apparently) that changes tyres for them.
October 11, 201114 yr Yea I think I used mine a bit too much How many km are they good for? depends on how you ride but about 8,000km's. You also maybe want to check your tyre pressures as they like proper lower psi's. 29-32 psi
October 11, 201114 yr ah shiet. Crashed my bike (again) going up Doi Suthep yesterday. Slipped in a bend and ended up in the ditch. Left leg scraped up. Think I had ridden like 13k+ km on those tires.

You gotta be careful this time of the year cos of all the slime and dust/crap on the roads. good to hear your ok. I would get Krs1 to sort out some new tyres for you it sounds like you need them.
October 11, 201114 yr I figure Im too much of a newbie to tell the difference. yea just as I was entering the bend I geared down and started slipping straight for the ditch. Wasnt sure what I should do and just slid into it straight on. Gotta go to Mae Sai to get some armored pants now, after I get the NSR fixed up + new tires. Thanks for your thoughts
October 12, 201114 yr Author Had a heck of a time finding a place to change the tires, rode around town with two tires around my body. The guy at the Chang Puak bus station was out on call again, so had to search for an alternative without having to leave the bike. Can't recommend the place i found though since he put the rear tire on backwards the first time, then had to take it off a second time to install a faulty air valve that wasnt faulty... Took a test ride to fill up the tank (you know where) and stopped at a Caltex to check the air pressure since the handling felt odd, guess i dont have to say what air pressure was...lol, anyway it was 52 psi front 20 psi rear, refilled with 32 psi. - have to check tomorrow if the bead locked in place as im pretty sure 20 psi isn't enough for it to 'snap' into place. Took a test ride up doi suthep for grip check, and these tires are awesome ! Track very nicely and can lean much much more than the IRC's, after a while i realized how bad my riding's become do to being over cautious with the IRC's...have to reprogram myself now ! Acceleration dropped a very very slight bit do to the heavier weight since i went up one size, but top speed is the same, the handling makes up for it on curves. These tires are also very quiet. If anyone's thinking about getting these don't hesitate ! Well worth the money spent. Carburetor is next.
