Just realised I will overstay on my November trip by one day-do I notify immigration upon arrival or just act innocent upon departure-I do believe that for one day overstay the 500 baht fine is overlooked-can anyone help please as to what is best as I dont want any overstay issues/problems? Thanking everyone for their help.

in my experience, the folks at the airport do often overlook a one day overstay. however, if you're thinking about extending your trip even further (like running to Cambodia for a 15 day stamp), immigration there WILL definitely charge you... but it's 500 baht. If you can't swing that, you probably shouldn't be here, sorry to say.

I dont intend to "swing" anything- this will be my FOURTH trip to LOS this year and before I have stayed for 27-29 days only-this oversight is entirely my fault and I wanted helpfull information as to what I should do-it's a pity that you could only reply sarcastically-mai phen rai.

They waive the overstay for one day because many people naively overstay thinking they have a calender month not 30 days, or are catching flights after midnight on the 30th day.

Don't worry about it, you could pay 1900 Baht at the immigration office for a week extension if you are worried though.

Airport never charges if only one day - if more than one day they will charge all. Land crossings are not so forgiving and all overstay is normally charged (unless an emergency situation and public announcement made of other policy). Although airport will not charge they often will stamp passport with notation (although no effect on later visits have been reported).
