Upcoming Us Presidential Election

Featured Replies

Obama is going to win.

Anyway, to change the topic a bit, why should I vote at all?

My voting district always:

Elects a right wing congressman

My state:

Always a elects a right wing governor and gives all of it's electoral votes to the republican

I can't think of a logical reason to vote at all.

Can you?

You think that's bad? I voted in Washington DC before and that was the biggest waste of vote in the history of the universe. Those idiots give 85% of their vote to Democrats regardless who the candidate is. Even Mondale in 1984. Morons.

Considering who you are going to vote for, the answer is NO. You are just wasting your vote.

I think that's a shame and I think my situation reflects the vast majority of American voters. That's why I would like the electoral college to be trashed.

Typical liberal - change the constitution every chance you get. Here's a twist on a classic one-liner - if you don't like it, move to a different country.

Of course the US right wing is all about suppressing voting of the masses who are mostly poor, so they would never go for mandatory voting.

It's already been proved here many times over that it is the Democrats who are trying to steal the vote and just pretending to care about the poor and minorities - because they are more easily fooled. I can't wait for the day when the people wake up and see the American left for what they really are - the bad, intolerant brand of socialists. Sadly for the masses, they never find out until it is too late (as followers of Lenin, Hitler, Mao, Pot, etc learned). Each of them started out sounding great to the people but once they took complete control, the mass murder and work camps popped up. And once all those who resisted them had been dealt with, they turned on their own and the "useful idiots" who had supported them. So even if the US goes down that path, the path being set forth by Obama, it soothes me to know that after the people who love America have been killed, imprisoned or chased into exile, the Leftist leaders will go after their useful idiots and wipe out the OWS morons and various other Democrats who think Obama is a savior. Ahhhh, that rant felt good. :)

A senior Romney aide says Mitt Romney would support an Israeli military strike to prevent Iran getting nuclear weapons.

"In his speech on foreign policy, Mr Romney will say he hopes the military option on Iran can be avoided but that it should not be taken off the table"

Most of America and most of the Arab countries agree with him. Letting those nuts get nukes is just plain crazy.

Hillary would be smart to distance herself from the Obama admin if she wants to be president in 2016. So if Obama were to pick someone to replace Biden it would have to someone too crazy and dumb to know better than to join a sinking ship. Let's say, Al Franken.

I missed this the first time. Obama/Franken would make a pretty good team, but Biden is funnier.

Jews have a lot more clout, but many are turning on Obama because they know that he is ruining the economy and because he wants to throw Israel under the bus.

Wrong. That is a right wing fantasy. Jews will be on board for the democrat. American Jews are LIBERALS overwhelmingly. Life long LIBERALS that don't bend with the wind like silly swing voters.

this...

And then there is Israel, the most egregious example of Obama’s disregard for traditional allies. Obama came into office explicitly intent on creating “daylight” between himself and Israel, believing that by tilting toward the Arabs, they would be more accommodating.

The opposite happened. (Surprise!) When Obama insisted on a building freeze in Jerusalem that no U.S. government had ever demanded and no Israeli government would ever accept, the Palestinian Authority saw clear to become utterly recalcitrant. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas openly told The Post that he would just sit on his hands and wait for America to deliver Israel.

Result? Abbas refused to negotiate. Worse, he tried to undermine the fundamental principle of U.S. Middle East diplomacy — a negotiated two-state solution — by seeking unilateral U.N. recognition of Palestinian statehood, without talks or bilateral agreements.

Yeaaa, why change the constitution when you can simply ignore itthumbsup.gif

Why should the Palestinians negotiate their future away?

The " Israelis " should pack up and go back where they came from. And perhaps they can negotiate with God to promise them a different land,

Perhaps Manhattan ? or Washington DC?

Because the Arabs have lost numerous wars that they started and therefore have no real future unless they negotiate. As long as they refuse to make peace, all their problems are of their own making.

You have a very short term thinking of History, I can assure you the Arabs don't, The last 100 years are just a blip on history.

Then they must remember that the Jews were in the area called Palestine long before them and have never not been in the area since before biblical times. It sounds like it is about time to face the fact that the Israelis are not going to leave and get on with trying to improve their lives and economic conditions.

Obama creaming Romney in swing state polls.

As this election is really only about a few swing states, sorry Romney-heads. Looking bad for you:

http://elections.nytimes.com/2012/swing-state-polls

If the election for president were being held today, for whom would you vote? If you're undecided, do you lean more toward Barack Obama or Mitt Romney?

Pennsylvania

53% Obama 42% Romney

Ohio

50% Obama 44% Romney

Florida

51% Obama 45% Romney

You are crying wolf again. Romney is ahead nationwide in some of the polls. The Romney campaign has not been able to use most of the funds that they have collected up until now because of campaign laws and the president has been outspending them by a lot. Soon things will evened out in the spending department and everything will change. With the increasing bad news on the economic front, things don't look good for Obama.

Citizens of US (and the rest of the world) - Read these comments and weep - if this is the level of political awareness you can expect from the US electorate

You guys in the rest of the world can read English too? Cool.

No, you don't get it. People smell a rat in Romney. He is a fake. He is not revealing his true self. Maybe his true self is OK but he is too creepily Nixon-like to be able to reveal it. This isn't fixable with any amount of money. This one is over. Mark my words.

This persona has all been manufactured by the desperate democrats because of Obama's failed policies and reinforced by the liberal media who are more concerned about frivolous issues like gay marriage and giving rights to illegal immigrants than saving America. The successful Massachusetts moderate has been painted as everything that he is not and Obama's surrogates line up to repeat the dishonest talking points like lemmings. Obama can run on nothing else.

The economy gets worse and worse and even though they try to spin that too, it is not working. How many "recovery summers' are the electorate going to swallow? Obama is most likely on his way out and hopefully just in time to reverse his disastrous policies. before it is too late

So he's a moderate this week? That's news.

You're talking BS, dude.

Romney was in Israel and praised the Israeli socialized health care system which yes IS excellent.

Americans can only DREAM about having a health care system like Israel.

The Israeli health care system is FAR to the left of Obamacare.

In the US, Romney vows to trash Obamacare and runs away from his sensible Massachusetts health care program which was the DIRECT inspiration for Obamacare.

Again, you don't get it. Romney cares about only one thing. Being president. Americans have no idea what he is. They wonder if he even knows. His likeability numbers are VERY LOW, they don't budge, and there is no hope they will budge. There is no way America is going to make that creep president. Bank on it.

This from the know-it-all from the Shetlands located somewhere in the South pacific who is unwilling to share his vast store of knowledge.

PS: ok, ok. I know it is the Falklands and they are not in the South pacific. However, I'm not certain our self admitted expert on them does.

You have just described the 2008 election to a "T".

So he's a moderate this week? That's news.

For any readers from the "rest of the world" who might be reading, the above is an example of someone being either willfully ignorant or deceitful. But this is politics so I guess it should be expected especially coming from the same people who defend registering pets, felons and dead people to vote.

I understand that for those of you who had never heard of Romney until this year that this may come as a shock but, Romney IS a moderate. His own history proves it. He has been Pro Choice (pro abortion), as Governor of Massachusetts his healthcare plan was very similar to Obamacare which so many conservatives hate.

Romney is such a moderate that he has had to convince voters over the past year that he is even a conservative. That's why other Republican candidates (Bachman, Cain, Newt, Santorum, etc) would alternate leads in the polls and even win several states in the primaries. The conservative Republican voters were not (some still are not) convinced he is not really a RINO (Republican In Name Only) - a moderate/liberal pretending to be conservative. So, Romney has moved more too the right to attract the conservative base.

The left and Democrats have jumped on this to portray Romney as an evil, dangerous, right winger. They feel that's all they can do because they can't point to any of Obama's accomplishments over the past 3.5 years (hint: there are none).

If Romney wins, there is still the chance that he will govern more from the center left. Anything is possible - after all, Obama has kept and advanced many of the policies that he attacked George W. Bush for leading up to the 2008 election.

Hilarious. The American voters aren't buying that Romney is a moderate. He isn't running as a moderate. He is running as a radical right winger. In other words, the right wing is going for broke. If they win, they will see this as a mandate to actually implement their dangerous radical agenda. Again, the American people won't buy this. It's over. I'm already celebrating.

So he's a moderate this week? That's news.

That is for sure. Obama has dismally failed on the economy, so his backing of the 9/11 Mosque, the criminal Occupy movement and other blunders hardly even matter.

The Romney "The Aristocrat Dressage" Tax Plan:

MASSIVE tax cuts for the RICH.

Tax hikes for the middle class.

Gotta love it. It's political suicide. I am so glad.

But that's the republican party for you. For the RICH only.

This Romney character needs to be blocked. This isn't a positive election. It's a blocking election.

A recent bipartisan analysis of Mitt Romney's tax plan, which, according to The Post, seems to "bend over backward to be fair to the Republican presidential candidate," concludes that the plan will cut taxes for the top 5 percent of taxpayers and raise everyone else's. Millionaires would get an $87,000 tax cut, while all other taxpayers would see their taxes rise by $500. The reason for the disparity is that in order to keep his tax plan from raising the deficit, Romney has to eliminate middle-class deductions for mortgages, medical and child-care expenses, and state and local taxes. Sounds like class warfare.

But that's the republican party for you. For the RICH only.

Best news I've heard all day! Where do I collect me check? Whoops! Sorry, that's the Democrats who always vote for the one who will give them the most for just sitting home doing nothing. :(

But that's the republican party for you. For the RICH only.

So you admit you vote right wing because you are rich and you get special breaks? Thanks for that.

Obama's winning issue. Handed to him on a gilded platter by "The Aristocrat" Mitt (Mitdiculous) Romney. Thank you very, very much.

I suspect that your sarcasm meter needs recalibrating...

I rather liked the "Hope & Change" theme last time around. It's a shame that it's been replaced by the same "ends justifies the means" approach to campaigning that evil republicans use.

But about the middle-class deductions specifically, I think that it would be real progress is ALL deductions for everyone were eliminated IF marginal rates were reduced at the same time. That's more or less how Singapore does it, they just look at your top-line earnings and apply a progressive rate that ranges from 0 to 20%. And their budget balances. I don't think that the US system right now is very fair in that regard. For instance, if two people earn $50,000 per year, why should the one who borrows more money against his house pay less in taxes?
