I played at one of the more prestigious clubs in Chiang Mai today and on my way into the locker room for a shower, the attendant smiled and handed me a towel and locker key. As I left, I handed him back the key and he took it without even looking up and seemed to drop a folder he was holding angrily down on the desk. Was he expecting a tip or did I just give him the key back at the wrong time?

I see some people leave 20 baht, although I don't do it every time.. In fact, I rarely do it, and didn't even consider it until I saw some people doing it.

Always 20 Baht when I pick up my shoes I leave with the attendant for cleaning before having a shower.

A small tip is always the right thing to do. Small to you but not so small to the Thai staff.
