i dont understand why so many people complain about other people complaining. <deleted> is the difference? if some people do not like some aspect of thailand it does not make me angry. it seems that many here get very angry if someone does not like to be ripped off or whatever.

I think a lot of the problem is, when you ask a silly question, you are inviting a silly answer.

When you confess to going against all forum advice, you invite criticism and 'told you so' posts.

A few prime examples.

I bought a car/house/condo in my gfs name and she took it away from me.

I gave my wife access to my bank account and she emptied it out.

How much sin-sot should I pay/my gf wants 1 million sin-sot.

I paid 2 million sin-sot to marry my girl, and now she has divorced me.

I paid a bribe to the police and they took it.

I left my wife at home while I worked overseas for 10 months of the year, now she is sleeping with someone else.

I was overcharged because I am a foreigner.

Have I missed any out?

Well done Thomas, you've quoted some examples of the silly posts we often see on this forum. However, i think it's answers like yours that the OP is referring to...

There is many posts on this forum that are made by people who seem to be what some call "amatures to SE Asia." Along with posts about frustration of undevelopment. That can be boring to some of us. However, im sure some understand the OP's post. He tries to convey how negative this forum can be. I don't know if it's due to many of the Thai expats actually being living innuendo's of the foreign men living here, ie. Poofs, perverts, pedophiles, sexpats etc? Not sure what the underlying reason is, but i find this forum to be one of the most negative forums on the internet. I post on quite a few forums but generally this one seems to be the most bitter.

"So come on then, whats your place in this country?"clap2.gif Awaiting a bitter answerbiggrin.png

Outrageously offensive post - do you speak like that ? Have the last 50 years of enlightenment completely passed you by ? And your spellng and grammar is appalling.

I met a bargirl. Is it true love?

To the OP.

People will always b*tch, whine and complain because it makes them happy. Others will post comments about TiT and if you do not like it go home because that makes their days too.

Thai Visa is a community and you will always get good and bad in any community. Don't stress too much over those posts that aggravate you. Life is too short. Go have a beer and chill out.

bendix does bring up a good point. when you can't "name and shame" it does make it a bit pointless to go

"Hey I went to a bizness but cant tell you where it was but they cheated me!"... and then the person will usually go on to give a bunch of details like "I wont tell you the name cause that is not allowed, but I will tell you it is located next to mcdonalds on soi 12".. .at which point the topic is closed.

another pet peeve i have is when people will say "he who can't be named" when we all know who they are refering to, as if this will somehow give them an out.

Don't think the poster was referring to any of these issues - but he did use the wood "poof" and grouped these people in with perverts etc.. This was the 'lack' of enlightenment I was referring to.

And if I may point-out, your own post is somewhat hysterical, to take one example: "near extinction of wild life" Errrrrrr, I don't think so.

It's only katharsis.

it accounts for 99% of threads here. Group hugs and other "we all love each others" events are only temporally breaks to forms alliances for ganging on future preys

Like laxative, not necessarily the most interesting or enticing thing to hear from others, but definitely good for you wink.png

As per forum tradition, you need to be recognized as a peer before others accept to scoop it up ... seems like the OP is not quite there yet !

Good luck!

Can you direct me to the "Group Hugs" threads please?

ste, IMHO most 'members' of TVF are nutcases who have nothing better to do then to react on every post.

Whether their post is relevant or not is not important; the fact that their nick name and/or their ridiculous avatar is at show gives such a kick..............smile.png

How one sees the "My Thai wife is lovely" thread is of course open to varying views.

I dont see it as a "group hug" thread at all Aneliane , I actually see it as putting a face to the poster so to speak... a voice behind the name.

There have been many derogatory posts regarding " the Thai lady" and I found this particular post most refreshing as to how it is possible to have a good relationship with the Thai ladies many of which are exceptionally long standing.

Its interesting to see a bitter slant applied to the post... very interesting!

#5331388My Thai Lady Is Lovely

I know that this will seem like a group hug (until the nay-sayers arrive), but I'm 100% in accord with smokie36 ... my Thai Lady is also lovely wub.png

Nice to see a positive thread about Thai women for a change! I'll join the group hug too, been with my lady nearly 4yrs and very happy. She never complains about anything (even when I'm being a dick), is a fantastic loving wife and an even better mother to our adorable 2yr old daughter. Actually most folk I know with Thai partners seem genuinely happy, for every bitter post about evil Thai women on here there are probably 100 happy campers.

Bitter and twisted ?

Praising the benefits of katharsis ? How is that bitter ?

As for group hugs, you don't seriously believe in a group hug that operates any type of selection ?

In French it's called a "partouze" at best :)

I think the irritation described the OP only applies to the General Topics Forums.

Post a question in any of the specialist forums and you get useful replies from genuine enthusiasts. You could buy a house/car/motorbike, find the ideal school, open a fish farm and build a swimming pool, then take great photos of your handywork using the masses of good advice in the other forums. But steer clear of the angry old men who seem to lurk in the General forum waiting to pounce on unwary posters and grammar crimimals.

In addition to this I quite enjoy looking up old threads which are full of anecdotes, stories and pleasant postings.

The scrum of the General Forum rarely turns out such gems....as you say better thought out ones are usually elsewhere.

Let me provide a summary of the main changes over the last 50 years:

Global average life expectancy has increased by c.30%

Global average infant mortality rate has decreased by c.60%

Institutional racism has been eradicated in the West

The cold war against communism has ended

Commercial airlines offer global travel opportunities to normal people

The internet permits unprecedented human connectivity

There have been huge advances in artists' freedom of expression
