coma
As I stated earlier. We know who you are but we don't have a clue as to your whereabouts. Arrest warrants issued. http://news.ninemsn.com.au/world/8488877/warrants-issued-for-murder-suspects This statement from the above link is laughable : "This is really of some concern," the official said. "From now on it get's harder and harder (to make an arrest)."
brewsterbudgen
Does anyone really care about Phuket's tourism on this site? I certainly don't after watching the CCTV video of the woman being violently stabbed. Travellers should go to Vietnam, Vientiane, Laos. Go to Cambodia. Nice places. I think Phuket is still far more suitable for your average 2-week holidaymaking tourist looking for a cheap package deal in a hotel with western style facilities and lots of fun things to do or see. Violent crime can happen anywhere and when you consider the vast numbers of tourists visiting Phuket is still rare. hansgruber
Not sure why they just don't check cctvs of businesses in surrounding areas for that night, even as far as the airport. They know what they are wearing and what bike they were on so it would narrow down their search.

hansgruber
So we have gone from "we know who you are and you should surrender" to a sketch and a pic of a bike that's produced in the millions. Let's hope someone can identify him but I don't hold much hope now.

Popular Post Ferangled
I live and work in Phuket and have done for a number of years now. I have experienced much less crime here than I did while living in the UK, and have always believed that it is a very safe place to live. That said I live nowhere near any of the tourist hotspots and not being a tourist, I don't act like one. I have left my romantic holiday ideals at home and realise the dangers of any country supporting a tourist industry directly off the disparity of wealth between the natives and the tourists. The have and have nots, so to speak. Whenever any such crime happens in Phuket, there is always a spate of knee jerk reactions about Phuket as a destination; and how clearly it is a desperate and dangerous place and should be avoided. I have always felt that this was unjustified, and to a certain extent still do, but it is clear that over recent months/ years crimes such as this are on the increase. Phuket is a big island and there are areas that are still completely unspoilt and "innocent" but I believe that there is a cancer in Phuket that is striking out aggressively and eating into the surrounding tissue; PATONG. Over the years it's clear that this cesspool is spreading it's influence to the neighbouring resort towns, each in turn getting more and more shady and infected. IMHO the types of people this place attracts both in terms of locals and foreigners is what is poisoning this island paradise. Perhaps it's about time that this cancer was removed? Phuket has tries it's best to juggle appeal to a wide range of tourists from the ultra high end to families, couples, backpackers to sex tourists. Perhaps it's time to concentrate on the high end, the families, couples and backpackers - I'm pretty sure removing the appeal for the sex tourist would increase the appeal for these other groups, it would also protect them by removing that criminal element. Unfortunately the powers that be would first have to admit there is a problem and stop profiting from it... Another sad tragedy in Phuket. RIP.
