I have a room that is rather echoing, what can be done to reduce the echoing ?

It is pretty much empty, so is that the reason ? what is the best way to reduce echoing ?

Empty is a prime reason. Rugs/drapes/cushions/furniture will all help.

A large rug/mat should help.

Because there is nothing to stop the sound.

Large rug, curtains, sofa, chair, canvas paintings on the wall, all will help. With nothing inside the sound is bouncing off the walls.
