Southport boxer dies in Thailand holiday riddle

SOUTHPORT: -- DEVASTATED friends paid tribute to a holidaymaker who died on a dream trip to Thailand.

Jonny Sutch collapsed and died on the last day of a month-long holiday in the Asian country.

Doctors today remained uncertain over the cause of his death with tests so far unable to establish the reason behind it.

Promising Thai boxer Jonny, 20, travelled to the northern city of Chiang Mai to improve his skills in the ring.

On the last day of his trip the joiner, from Banks, near Southport, collapsed and died while waiting to be picked up by a taxi for his flight home.

Colin Jervis, one of Jonny’s coaches at his club Team Chan, today described him as a “role model”.

He said: “Jonny was a friendly, go-happy, nice, quiet, young lad. He was very energetic, the sort of person who was always at the club – he was constantly training.

“He was a popular lad, well thought of and very highly respected by all the young lads and the older senior team.

Calling this a riddle in the headline is an insensitive and poor choice of words to describe a tragedy.

RIP Johnny my thoughts and prayers for your family and friends

RIP Jonny and condolences to his family and friends.

RIP to the young man, I hope the coronial investigation finds the reason for his death so the family can have some closure.

I have deleted all posts that were off-topic, nonsensical, insensitive, or uninformed speculation about the young man's death.

Let us all be mindful of the feelings of relatives and friends of the deceased, who may well be reading this topic.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

I wonder if he had a couple of kicks to the head whilst training and a delayed reaction, fit 20 year olds dont just suddenly drop dead. Hope they find the cause RIP

death, riddle, chiang mai, three words in the title sure to pique everyone's interest. Nothing in the article suggests any of the three are connected.

Hopefully in his own country after the incompetence displayed in the investigations into the events at Downtown Inn.

A terrible tragedy for this to happen to anyone let alone a young man in the prime of his life.

Any more on this. My best wishes go to the family of this young man in the time of sorrow. Not uncommon to die from heart failure an old frind of mine died in his sleep years ago 26 at the time.
