You must mix with some very funny people ,my wife and i know a dozen or so normal Thai familes with normal jobs and take care of their kids ,and thats without my wifes familly where her three sisters have normal everyday loving housholds.

The normal Thai families I know seem to include murderers, thieves, jail-birds, drug dealers, prostitutes and corrupt policemen (mix and match). Either your 'families' are exceptional folks OR you don't know them as well as you think OR the village I live in is full of nutters.

I am hearing you both.

Work in Thailand in a respectable company and you will mix with (relatively) normal Thais with jobs whose kids haven't been dispatched to far-off provinces to grow up with yai and her ailments.

Retire in Thailand and you will chat to bar workers, taxi drivers and other members of the hand-to-mouth subsistence class who usually have family members with the full range of social problems.

What you do every day determines who you will speak to and what tales you will hear.

i once posted about how happy me and my thai wife are for the years we have been together here, and how we are pretty much never apart. i got shredded on here.

Actually i made a similar post some time ago and got a massive amount of good replies ,if you marry a decent woman and treat her well no matter what race she is from you should have a happy life.
