yes the bus ticket will just show the destination to maesai, not tachilek. there is no proof of the onward travel to other countries.

just get a refundable ticket to kl to something

Tell me how you get a "refundable" ticket when the small print on every airline ticket says "non-refundable or non-transferable" ???

I can't understand how can it be so expensive!

You wait until you want to buy a bottle of Port!

Seriously, did you figure out something yet?

Hey! Im actually trying to drink as much wine as I can and as much port as I can since I don't think I'll be able to afford it there!!! I didn't figured it out it yet so I caled the thai embassy, explained them everything, they asked for an email and now Im waiting for an answer. I still have 2 weeks to get the visa so it's of, I can afford to wait until next monday to make a decision.

Something you need to understand.. 99% of Thai people do not have a credit card. Therefore no incentive for bus companies or train company to offer online services. You go to the bus station or train station and buy your ticket. Therefore the answer to your question is NO you cannot buy ticket online.

To everyone that replied to this post willing to help me, thank you very much! I'm waiting for an answer from the Thai Embassy in Portugal and if they don't give me any other option I'll make a donation of 100 euros to airasia for a ticket I'll not use!!! I hopeyou all have a great weekend!

How about BKK to SIN, Tiger Airways has a fare for only 69 Euros (1-way).

Or, you can purchase fully refundable Fares on major airlines like United and Delta, from BKK (e.g. I know they fly BKK to Tokyo).

Expensive, but again, fully refundable. Check their Websites.

But, definately get rid of that Orange Tongue before you enter Country, or they may put you in Quarantine! :-)

Someone wrote: "Air ticket to Vientiane, Laos timed 30 days after arrival to show you're leaving Thailand?"

Very wrong. Air tickets to Laos are expensive (and to Burma too). My advice to the poster: check Air Asia's web site and buy the cheapest ticket from Bangkok (not Chiang Mai) because you can get really cheap tickets one way to Vietnam and Malaysia and Cambodia usually. They will be more expensive from Chiang Mai (and less choice). It doesn't make any difference where you leave Thailand from for immigration purposes. You can enter from one place and leave another.

Well that's the problem; Skyscanner is not so good -- in my opinion.

The BEST all-around search engine for travel (Air, Hotels, etc.) is KAYAK;

which also gives you the option to simultaneiously search on other sites by clicking boxes.

BTW -- except for your orange tongue, you look cute. :-)

Ticket to Thailand entrance free for 30 days

Air ticket to Vientiane, Laos timed 30 days after arrival to show you're leaving Thailand?

Double entry tourist visa from Thai Embassy Laos? (Which will give you 2x90 days if you extend at CM immigration)

Please put this right anyone with more knowledge on these things.

My first entry I was give a 30 day visa the only question was where are you going. They gave me a list of areas to stay in i Bangkok.

My second trip I purchased a 60 day triple entry in the Thai consulate in Vancouver.

My next trip over I got a retirement visa in Vancouver.

Their are many people going over to Laos on the bus to get the new 60 day entries and coming back on the bus with out a ticket to fly back some where else. Mai Sai will only give you a 30 day visa.

if you book a cheap flight with air asia and don't use it you can easily claim back the airport taxes ,

there's a flight from bkk to penang dec 15th for 2200 baht , 900 baht taxes that they will pay back to you no problem.

Not exactly "no problem". I fought hard with Air Asia and even disputed via my bank since I charged the tickets on my credit card. We tried to get the taxes back too but to no avail. The bank who issued my credit card told me that Air Asia was one of the more aggressive companies when it came to disputes over charges.

well they paid them back to my credit card approx. one month after i requested it , it was minus 200 baht for charges which i forgot to mention , one slight problem was the website - there was no sign of my claim online when i tried to check the progress so i went into the air asia shop at thaipae gate and gave them my booking number only and they checked on there computer and said the claim was in the system - i waited another 2 weeks and fifteen pounds was credited to me.

First of all, thank you for the answers! About the visa, the Thai embassy in Portugal does request an outbound ticket in order t give me a 60 days visa. I have no idea how it works there, but here in Portugal the outbound ticket it's not discussable! And because I don't have a lot of money and because there are chances I'll not need to use that outbound ticket, I would like to make it as cheap as possible. So, from Chiang Mai, what are the cheapest solutions for me? And what are the ones I can actually book online? What would you buy in my situation?!

Uptheos has probably given you the best solution; C.M. to Vientiane, Laos. The airfare you can search for on-line and then make a booking and pay for it with your credit card. You could come back to C.M. by bus very inexpensively.

That's it !!

If you have a Tourist Visa in your passport there is no need for an outbound ticket. I came here on a dual entry tourist visa last year ago August with no outbound ticket, it's not necessary.

Maybe you were lucky.. This past May when I was returning from a trip overseas the english speaking fellow in front of me at immigration was having a very animated and loud discussion with the immigration officer. It appears that he was entering the country with a double entry tourist visa but did not have an outbound ticket for when his second entry was finished. This discussion went on for over 15 minutes. Finally 2 other immigration officers appeared and escorted him away. Of course I don't know what the outcome was. But the moral of the story is what is okay today, may not be okay tomorrow.

I entered on a 60 day triple entry visa issued in London, i entered on a single ticket LON-BKK

If the embassy of the country you wish to visit has issued you with a visa it's very unlikely they will ask for a return ticket when you arrive at immigration.
