Word Of The Year

Featured Replies

I started a similar thread many Moons ago, but I cannot find it now.

So what word, phrase, action, decision has made an impact on you this year.

For me, Hillsborough, 23 years of cover up, deceipt and most importantly closure of a tragic event.

Justice for the '96.

The reason why it is most poignant to me, along with Heysal and other more trivial events, I have almost closed my eyes on football.

But your word of the year and a few lines if you will, can be anything, but a line however oblique would be good.

The word of the year was always going to be procrastination but I kept putting it off and now the year has almost gone....

Can we start with our word for next year now?

expedite.

Seems a good one for next year, but if I procrastinate, it mite be too soon.

horrible and wonderful (its been a rough year with some good bits in between, but mostly horrible)

and for next year its going to be "can't be worse" (OK not a word but a phrase but lets not be pedantic since yours technically aren't words either mossy)

I find "defriend" very annoying, but have to laugh at :-

: Intexticated ("unable to concentrate while driving due to being distracted by texting")

: Exhaustipated ( Just too tired to give a sh*t )

Mustn't grumble.

Just about sums up my year so far.

Splendid.

Had a great year so far and looking to get even better as the year comes to a close.

The only downside is my impending thirty tenth birthday. :o

Phrase's are fine, but my word of the year is Hillsborough, the rest of the post just preamble to the reason.

More importantly, I am very sorry to hear your words of this year, I just wish there was more of the latter word than the previous, so I am not accepting nex year's phrase from you and changing it too, ' Will be better, much better'.

Omnishambles

I won't elaborate

I would have chosen pleb.....reminds me of Wilt. Now that was a while ago....

Everybody tells me that the word for me this year is 'Retirement'.

But I just do not accept it. In fact I'm chasing a job with a South Korean company at the moment. They know me, know my work. Just hope that the Libyan government haven't put any age restriction legislation in place.

I hate not working, life is so boring when I only have myself to argue with.

Don't know if this is in the groove of what you were thinking but I just posted this elsewhere ...

When my gf first came to my country we worked on both her vocabulary and her diction or pronunciation.

When she first hear me say this word pronunciation she not hear as one word but she hear pronunc-i-ation ... Pronounce This Asian!

How is the Asian pronounce different from Australian she asks?

i was told i was belligerant the other day, I quite like that word. And no,im not.

'humour'

or lack of in the Eastern sub

You gents tried to avoid paying a proper pollster's fee.

The word is "mafia". :D

A word that comes to mind this year is "Hub" it seems Thailand has become the "Hub" of many things this year according to some..

On a more personal note my word would have to be challenge, since I've made a bit of a change in direction in my career after a number of years with the same company which since I'm no spring chicken, I feel it's a challenge
