Agree with you all. Very hard to see past Red Bull at the minute. They seem to now really have the car for all occasions. And just as we get to the business end of the season. Good timing indeed.

Interest could soon be not about who will win the title this year, but who will come second third and fourth. A shame as it is good to see things go down to the wire but hats off to Red Bull and Vettel once again.

One of the things to watch is how Massa will be doing. He has now announced that he don't drive for Alonso anymore and it's now time to race for himself. How will this affect to the Ferrari team for the rest of the season?

My own feeling is "not a lot". With or without the interference of team orders, Alonso is usually on another planet than Massa.

Massa was a half decent driver before his accident, but since then he has never been quite the same... and being so publicly and widely known as Alonso's insignificant other, can't have done much for his confidence or motivation either. In all truth he probably should have left F1 a year or two back whilst he still had some pride left, but I'm sure a couple more years drawing a Ferrari pay cheque every month has softened the blow of it all.

Shades of Monaco in Singapore with the way Rosberg was within fractions of a second of snatching pole from a team and a driver that clearly feel they can walk this one, with the way they started packing their things up before qualifying had even finished. A shame Rosberg didn't quite manage it, but one suspects, even if he had, that Vettel would have quickly found his way past anyway, and gone on to control the race from the front.... which is what it looks like will happen, failing some sort of disaster or mistake from RB.

If there is one thing more boring than a processional street race with limited over-taking, it is a processional street race with limited over-taking and a leader who races off into the sunset. Hope something happens to shake things up a bit. Perhaps a bit of rain might do the trick. Anyway, fingers crossed for a good one tonight.

P.S. Loved the shot of Kimi walking back to his trailer within seconds of qualifying finishing, dressed in beach shorts and sandals! All he needed was a lollipop to complete the look. biggrin.png

Whoever thought it better to show the fireworks display rather than most of the last lap of todays race needs a roman candle shoved far up their arse.

Appears this was not the case, except for the leader racing off into the sunset

This w/end's coverage set a new low in lip synchronisation. To see the lips moving and someone elses voice. Not 1 day bit two. Plus adverts with the race commentary on. laugh.png

Had no problems, so guess it is where you were getting your signal from. Monza the Race on Sunday was best on BBC 1 !!!

Webber penalized 10 grid places in the next race for hitching a ride back to the pits on Alonso's car.

Or actually he got his 3rd warning of the season which dropped the grid position.

That was wrong imho. It's good to see this kind of things happening after the race.

Vettel was phenomenal. At some point he could show the real speed of F1 cars when the drivers don't have to take care of the tires nor fuel consumption. It would be nice to see the drivers going as fast as they can at all times.

Rosberg and Hamilton were both questioning Mercedes tactics. Is there something going on in Mercedes?

Moronic booing at the podium. Vettel is fast, very fast. There is no reason to greet that with disrespect.

TV feed was of sync for the 2 days. I had to look elsewhere during the podium interview to be able to hear what they drivers were saying.

i experienced the same thing watching at mulligans on 11.

to be honest, i was happy to have the commentary continue throughout the the commercials.

i personally thought it was an excellent race, watching with live timing to see vetel rack up a 30.5 second lead on alonso to retain the lead, and then doing it all again.

raikkonen's drive was also inspired and the midfield battle was excellent to watch unfold.

unfortunately commentafry is generally so lacking, that unless you know how to read the live timing screens you are in the dark and cant see where the real race is unfolding.

Pretty much 100% agree with you David.

Any attempt at an intelligent discourse on here about F1 gets swamped in a deluge of smartarse & 'informed' comments from the Hamilton contingent aimed at bringing down Alonso's reputation. Any attempt to question or re-dress this is met with skewed logic often followed by 'light-hearted humour' (for which read childish insults & sarcasm).

To your credit, you have always been polite on here where I've been less tolerant and guilty of being a little more robust. As I'm sure you've witnessed that just elevates to more unpleasantness and sarcasm.

Totally sad to see that it's come to this for you. For me you are certainly one of, if the not the most respected, informed and valued of posters seen on this thread.

I too question the value of participating further. I know I can rest assured you will get much enjoyment from the coming races and future seasons.

Deary me, what a load of stomach-churning hypocritical sanctimony.

deary me, what a load of driver partisan fanboyism.

that includes the lot of you.

Another masterclass from Vettel, he was told to open up a gap and he did just that - very very quickly - twice!!, quite astonishing turn of speed, the rest of the pack just had no answer to that.

Must admit, Alonso stopping in the middle of the track and Weber jumping in was not the safest moment in F1 history.

Its bizarre isn't it. Schumi dominated in the same sort of fashion and was in my opinion far less personable than Vettel, but I never recall him being booed. Totally stupid.

Vettel says that it is Alonso/Ferrari fans who are behind it. Whoever it is, they should <deleted>. No place for that.

According to the poll on the w/ends race day. He just isn't popular on Asia.

I have been looking but can not see Lotus reporting which engine they will use next year.

I did see that Renault had decided to limit their engines to just 3 teams. Red Bull, Toro Rosso and Caterham. Am I missing something?

May go to 5 teams,

Hope Lotus can raise the money needed if this is possible.

Would have loved to see Webber get past into 2nd much sooner. I can't help wondering who Seb's "Keep him away from me" was meant for. The commentators suggestion of Grojean does not wash, as that surely would be down to Seb. Damn rain spoiled it for me. Not in Suzuka, in Ranong, I kept losing the picture. Cracking the bloody flags now init. 555

And we get a new 4 times world champion. Congratulations for Vettel and Red Bull.

I think Brawn leaving was always on the cards. Too many chefs spoil the broth and all that. Couldn't really understand why he didn't leave when Lowe came in.

Vettel being fined for celebrating is just ridiculous. The FIA are always trying to find ways to make the sport more appealing, coming up with various changes, such as this year the business of interviewing the drivers on the podium (which i really hate by the way), but when drivers do something spontaneous and heart-felt, they come up with these petty fines.

Congrats by the way to Vettel for yet another title. There is no doubt that he has overall had the best package for the last 3 or 4 years, sometimes by a large margin, like in the second part of this season when it has started getting a bit ridiculous, sometimes by a smaller margin, as in other seasons, but he has done the job and delivered, and at the end of the day, drivers barely ever win the title without having the best car, so he is no different and should be judged just like all the other title winners.

I also think that he has matured both as a driver and as a man. Been sad to see the booing that he has endured this season. Totally disrespectful and uncalled for. Adrian Newey said he thought it had something to do with the race he ignored team orders and the one finger celebration thing. I have to agree that the one finger thing does come across as a bit arrogant, and the ignoring of team orders thing was stupid, but all drivers are no doubt a bit arrogant, and the team orders thing, he went on record in India by saying that he totally regretted what he did and if he could turn back the clock, he would have done what the team told him, as he now appreciates it is not all about him, there is the team to consider, and you have to do what is best for the team. As people will know on here, i am against team orders and would like them to not be part of the sport, but since they are, and since they are now legal, i do think drivers should do what their team tells them to do. Anyway, for me, for Vettel to openly admit his wrong-doing, shows how he has developed as a man. I can't ever imagine Schumacher admitting he was wrong about something. Did he ever apologise or admit to stopping his car deliberately in Monaco, or to deliberately driving into Hill and Villeneuve? Don't think he did. Vettel is ten times the man Schumi was.

I do think it is a shame though, that next year we won't have a better yardstick driving alongside him, to judge just how good he is. Maybe i'm doing Daniel a disservice, but my feeling is Vettel will comfortably carry on being the main player in the team, and Daniel will play second fiddle, much as Mark has done. I can understand though from a team point of view, they don't want to upset the apple cart, and if they can win the Constructors as they have done this year, without having another driver to the same sort of standard as Vettel, then why change things.

Will Hamilton be able to convince Brawn to stay? Somehow I doubt it if Mercedes wants to change to directing by committee and Brawn will not be part of any committee. Maybe if Hamilton was in Vittel's shoes?

Not sure what if any risk to Vettel, any of the other drivers or the crowd in the burn out exhibition? I did not see it or the overall track to see if anyone could have been at risk. Rules are rules I guess. Small price for Vettel to pay to enjoy the moment and thrill the crowd.

Perhaps he should have tried....
