FWIW Posted March 13, 2013 Posted March 13, 2013 Hmmm this is a big problem from Singapore and to all points on the compass, in the region, there is no easy solution, even now common in the North of Aust, use plenty of deet and plant lots of lavender , both Dengue and Malaria, hate that smell also. I did not know mosquitoes had returned to Singapore . Last time I were there I was informed that they had eradicated mosquitoes and flies. I never saw mosquitoes whilst I were there . I only saw one large green fly. It is somewhat of a mystery. Singapore has arguably the best mosquito control program in the world. Extremely thorough, and proactive. Indeed, you hardly ever see mosquitoes (at least in the urban areas), and yet dengue is still a problem. They do a really neat on line real time notification of dengue cases, and you can get sms alerts to warn you of areas that have dengue. http://www.x-dengue.com/ Looks like there is a fair outbreak ongoing currently: http://www.x-dengue.com/Home/Summary Cool use of technology application to public health problems.
