Public Hoildays In Bangkok

Featured Replies

I get sick and tired of pubic hoildays that dont follow any logic

ie 15th of april is a saturday and a public hoilday therefore as saturday is a weekend not a weekday the replacement day is monday 17th april.

BUT NOOOO they say its only for private companies and not govt offices. The result of this is that I will lose pay as i cant take any extra days due to having only 10days leave in the contract

I cant change my dates of travel either i will be traveling back from malaysia by train on this day and will arrive in bangkok at lunchtime on monday 17th april 2006 which following normal logic is a public hoilday.

I hate Thailand it my be my worth to just go to malaysia and not come back to bangkok at all. all this place does is find ways of eating up my cash or cheating me out of it just like this its bad enough i get paid shit for the work i do but to nit pick over a single extra days hoilday is the last straw.

has anyone else had these problems with govt employers in thailand and public hoildays

Nope ... no problems at all! The main holiday is the 13th. Monday may in fact be a Gov't holiday and a bank holiday but not for most of the rest of the country. My best friend is the head of a department (IT Security) for a major company and he doesn't get Monday off. Your Thai co-workers don't get Monday off. (I get Monday off because I am 41 and don't have to work :-)If you stopped living here thinking it is Australia then you might get it. If you can't manage that then at least do some research; like right here on this forum http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=53726

Look! See where it says "substitute for %%%%" That is when you will PROBABLY get a substitute day.

Your sense of entitlement in your posts is amazing though! But since you "hate Thailand" and "it my be my worth <sic> just to go to malaysia and not come back ..." Why don't you just do that!
