Urgent Visa Advice

Featured Replies

I've been on a non imm b for 4 years, extending it every 3 months because I like to go to laos and such for mini holidays. My visa expires today (20th) However I won't be able to get another non imm b as there is a problem with company i work for and they don't have the last 3 months tax or yearly audit completed yet.

i was going to going to drive to Aranyaprathet and get 15 days on arrival, but I just found out no Cambodian border gives visa's on arrival anymore? Is this true? What are my options? I was going to get visa on arrival once or twice then get a non imm b again after laos.

Can I extend the business visa at chaeng wattana if I can't get VOA from Cambodia? What docs would I need?

I have a WP and I really don't want to go to Laos and grab a tourist visa.

You can do the border run by land, you will get 15 days. If you were to travel by air you get 30 days. In order to get a new Non-B visa you will have to go to and Embassy/Consulate in a neighboring country once you get the proper paperwork, you can not do it in Bangkok.

From my understanding if you enter on a tourists visa your Non-B will be null and void, as you must have a non-immigrant visa to hold a WP. But perhaps someone else can clarify this?

With the WP in hand, business registration papers and a letter from your boss you should be able to get another non-B without having to show yearly tax statements. In the 5 years I have had a WP and non-B I have never had to provide this to renew my visa.

His non-B visa, which I assume to be valid for multiple entries but it would have been helpful if the OP had said so, will be null and void from midnight today. He can still do a border run today and on return to Thailand today will again be given permission to stay for 90 days. While the visa states "must enter before 20 March 2013" immigration officials have for many years no longer interpreted this literally and allow entry still on the stamped date. If on the other hand it was valid for a single-entry it became null and void on the day he used it to enter Thailand and received his permission to stay for 90 days.

As far as I know a non-B visa or a one-year extension of stay for one of several specific reasons, which may vary from one employment office to another, is needed to be given a work permit or an extension of it. I'm not sure but I suspect that a work permit would not be automatically voided if during its validity period the permit holder were in Thailand temporarily on a permission to stay based on a visa-exempt entry or entry with a tourist visa.

Maestro, I had a single entry business, which was enter before 19th of march with a stamp of stay till 20th of March and like all visa's, it was crossed out on arrival. i believe you can't get multiple entries from Laos or Singapore.

What should i do? if I'm not able to get VOA and I can't go to an Embassy (not can't but more like don't want to) to get a tourist visa, how am I able to et a tourist visa exemption?

In Laos? Laos is quite strict and always ask for last 3 months of SSO, PND 1, PP30 etc as well as a letter, WP and even a office lease agreement and map!

In other words you do not have a multi entry visa valid for one year but have been obtaining a new single entry visa every 3 months but now do not have the paperwork required? As longs as you are not working and have a UK passport all you need to do is cross the bridge and enter Laos and then return. Your passport will allow immigration in Thailand to stamp a 15 day visa exempt entry.

I believe that the WP becomes null and void whilst you are not on a NON IMMIGRANT Visa? Others can confirm or deny this.

Yes correct.

I don't want to enter Laos because it's 10 hours a way and i'll get 1 day overstay now, I want to enter Cambodia and come back via Aranyaprathet. However, can i get visa exemption there or not? All agent websites are saying you can't get one now from Cambodian borders. So how do I get one? What do I need?

I also just read this

  1. The visit is strictly for tourism purposes.
  2. They must have a confirmed return ticket to show that they are flying out of Thailand within 30 or 15 days of entry, as appropriate. Open tickets do not qualify. Travelling overland out of Thailand by train, bus, etc to Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia (including en route to Singapore), Myanmar, etc is not accepted as proof of exiting Thailand.

You may be asked to show your flight ticket on entering Thailand. If you do not possess a flight ticket to show you will be exiting Thailand within 30 or 15 days of entry you will be most likely to be refused entry.

  3. It will also be necessary to prove that you have funds of at least 20,000 THB per person during your stay in Thailand.

I believe that the WP becomes null and void whilst you are not on a NON IMMIGRANT Visa? Others can confirm or deny this.

It does, but as far as I'm aware when I'm back on a non Imm B it's still valid and it won't get canceled when I switch to tourist because I never got a yearly extension of stay and it wasn't attached to my visa.

If you are in Bangkok any of the daily visa run services provide full transport/visa for Laos/meal for about 2,000 baht using the Cambodia border. Yes you can obtain visa exempt entry there - hundreds of people do it everyday.

Ok thanks a lot, I'll jump in the car and go myself from BKK, the only thing I need to do is fill out a TM7 form at the border? Do I need to ask for a visa exemption or just fill out the TM7 and queue?

Do I need a fake airline ticket confirmination? And a bank print out?

No TM7 required. You exit Thailand handing in your TM6, departure card. You have to purchase a visa to Cambodia, $20, enter Cambodia. Turn around and exit Cambodia. Fill out a new arrival card, TM6 at the border and enter Thailand. You'll get 15 days permission to stay which includes the day that you enter.

You do not use a TM.7 - you depart Thailand and apply for visa to Cambodia and enter - turn around and exit and enter Thailand presenting your passport for the visa exempt stamp. Why not use a service and they will guide you - often times border will have people asking for extra fees.

I meant TM6 sorry! I've been dealing with my brothers tourist visa last week and have TM7 stuck in my head lol ...

You are confusing visa on arrival and visa exempt entries. There are no visa on arrival desks at the Cambodian border.

I believe a WP is attached to a NON Immigrant B visa, you are required to show the Visa before they issue the WP, even though you can apply for one whilst on a tourist visa. Technically a valid Immigrant Visa or extension and WP are required to work in Thailand not just one.

pay for cambo visa with 2x $10 dollar bills.... they might ask for 100 baht on top of that.... don't bother even making eye contact with the touts. Good luck.

It ended up costing me 1,000 baht to immigration guy in office, no biggy, I didn't even have to write my name on visa form. Which Is what I was planning to do from the get go, but all the VOA talk on websites got me confused with visa exemption.

So I got the 15 days and back home already. However I will have to go back every 15 days till I get back on the Non Imm B and I can only go a total 4 times? However i only got about 3 pages left in the passport including 2 at the front unused, how will I be able to get a Non Imm B if i'm out of page space and on a 15 day border stamp ....

It's not my year, that's for sure.

You're starting a bit late to worry about the limited space left in your passport. Every 90 days you have been going to a Thai consulate to get a new single-entry non-B visa (one full page used) plus possibly another full page for a visa to enter the country where you went to the consulate, and just now, if you did your border run to Cambodia, you used another full page for the Cambodian visa. Add to that all the entry and exit stamps. With a little advance planning you could have got an electronic visa for Cambodia (no passport space used) for your border run, or even better go to Vientiane or Savannakhet for a tourist visa valid for one or two entries.

My suggestion is to go for a tourist visa when your current 15 days are up and on your return to Thailand immediately apply for a new passport. This gives you up to 90 days until you have to leave Thailand again, which should be sufficient time for your new passport to arrive.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Once you get your employer's paperwork for a new non-B visa and after getting that visa, you may want to do your employer a favour and and get one-year extensions of stay for the reason of employment. If you add it up, the fees for the extension (THB 1,900) and the multiple-entry re-entry permit (THB 3,800) will cost you less than the fees for four single-entry non-B visas and the visas for the countries where you have been going to apply for your non-B visas, and you will be totally free to chose the dates and destinations for your excursions to other countries in the region for a change of air. Also, you will have to get a new passport less quickly. Think about it. Who knows, you may even be able to talk your employer into paying for your extension fee, considering the work you save him.

I wasn't aware of an E-Visa, I've never been to Cambodia or had a tourist visa / visa exemption in many years. How long does an E-Visa take? I will have to go to border again in 1 or 2 days I guess, I really don't have time to go to Laos before Songkran.

If i'm in the shit when I run out of passport pages, how many blank pages do I need minimum for a tourist visa in laos? Just 2 blank pages and a space on any random page for 2-3 stamps? Can the pages be at the front and the back of the passport or do they need to be in order?

Yes I know I screwed up but I've had a lot to issues deal with and passport/visa's were in the back of my mind.

I believe the e-visa takes 1 day.

Pages are enough, they don't have to be in consecutive order. But some pages are not for visas but reserved for other uses.

Since your passport is almost full, apply for a new one. You never know when you might need to travel.

I have 2 pages at the front (first 2), 3 at the back.

i will go to Cambodia tomorrow then get a tourist or non imm b on 17th, is it too late to get a E-Visa?

Never applied for one, but believe they say 1 day in advance.
