...you never hear of an Asian referred to as a 'farang'....so even referring to them as foreigners is misleading in a way...

....this individual was murdered by his own countrymen....again, not a 'typical' murder of a foreigner....

Never mind saving the elephants, crocodiles and butterflies. it should be; Save the foreigners they are getting wiped out one at a time. just look at the track record in the past few months.

Yes, but then the "Thai" arguement would be "if you weren't here, it wouldn't have happened, therefore it's YOUR fault" . . .

How do the police "know" he was involved in prostitution? Tea Money perhaps to turn a blind eye???

On the button. Where do they get this junk from? If it's true, and the police do know, Thailand's finest should be claiming, 'case closed' in no time at all.

But I doubt it...

If it happened in Kings Cross and you were Australian, then you would suss it all out before the cops.

If it happened in Soho and you were from London, the same would apply.

Once again, in Geylang in Singapore.... get the picture?

Obviously, none of you are familiar with Charansanitwong 40 in Bangkok.

Vietnameses are foreigners but I suspect Thaivisa were quite happy to play on the confusion between Foreigner and Farang to get more page views.

Why not title "Vietnamese man murdered", not catchy enough?

Maybe he could also enlighten us why he thinks saving people is more worth than saving endangered species. There are billions of us, we destroy everything we touch, etc Animals are just trying to survive, and we human beings are $%#ing them. That's without even mentioning they were on earth long before we even existed.

Of the five examples you quote two are apparent suicides and one is today's report. That leaves a "track record" of two incidents from you.

Not a bad record really although zero incidents would be perfect but we don't live in a perfect world.

Common occurrence - prostitution or drugs. coffee1.gif

There is one drug which is the most abused and harmful than all the others put together, is that the one you're referring to? Hint: it rhymes with "out in the hall"

Isn't it time to just legalize prostitution and get rid of these horrific gangs that control the entire industry?

You do not seriously believe that legalisation would rid the industry of gangs?

I can't speak for anantha92, but I believe legalization would take a lot of the baddies out of the controlling/abusive end of the business. same for legalizing drugs. There is always going to be allure for sex and drugs and guns and alcohol. The more you try to criminalize them, the more of a black market gets created - and the abuses which are part of the equation.

If it has ANYTHING to do with prostitution, the Police WILL know.

After all, you gotta have SOMEBODY regulating the industry!

Yes, in the perfect world, but this would be bad for business for the mafia gangs and corrupt officials that are running the show, so it will never happen.

You have to start somewhere if you want to solve anything, there are a lot of law abiding investors that would probably get into the industry as well. Not only that, the government can regulate and assure the workers security, as well as provide and enforce mandatory disease testing. The entire industry needs an overhaul it's still stuck in the 70's. It's about time Thailand embraces what they have known to be all around the world and embracing it is the first step to solving every single problem. This idea of losing face is total and utter nonsense, the country is being pulled back by this and there are people who are actually suffering and dying because of the incompetence and arrogance of the past/current few governments.

You think the government even cares?

I agree and one of them sounds like a potential auto erotic accident as well/ It's amazing how many posters on TV come out with incredible statements (usually negative and/or paranoid statements about Thailand or Thais) then when challanged they cite TV headlines as the source without even considering whether the stories behind the headlines support their theory or not. Not Clever but fun to shoot down:-)

Legalize protitution!!!

Based on what do you think prostitution is illegal.

Hope the reference is not the same as driving salengs, or going through red lights, or using a cell phone while driving or riding a motorbike, even in front of a police station, or or or!!!
