Sukhumvit Soi 11 Is Not Fun Anymore

Featured Replies

  • Popular Post

Getting seriously bored of people who just think that soi 11 in the center of Bangkok night life.

-Side walks are totally unusable because of the street bars.

-Clubs are full of working girls no matter where club you go: Bed, Qbar, Levels, Bash and others. At least Climax is a known working girl place and not hiding it.

-Over saturated of noisy pubs opening and closing since I come in Bangkok more than 10 years ago.

-After hours clubs full of junkies going to the toilets to take a line of cocaine then touching their nose every 5 minutes.

-Street food where it's like playing Russian roulette if you eat there.

-Hords of "massaaaage Sirrrr" with a 2 bahts printed menu in the hand. Typical overweighed Issaan girls that can't anywhere else.

-Rip off/crook taxi who ask 200 to go 1 block away.

XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

The situation became so boring that clubs in soi 11 are giving 2 or 3 drinks their place. What's next paying girls to get them in the club?

I miss the great parties in Bangkok not so long ago, where people had real fun, clubs were open late without the cops knocking at the door randomly to shut down it.

Where is this little craziness? Sad to see that soi 11 is contaminating other soi and becoming a gross junkyard while there are so many other areas to discover in Bangkok.

Hasn't soi 11 been 'out of fashion' for quite some time now?

I don't really see the point of the post. If you don't like soi 11 don't go there. Leave it to people who do enjoy it.

So why so many new places opened in the last 12 months?

The point is to share opinions with ppl who live in Bangkok, thats why it's called "forum" here.

You seem like you are descibing a red light area that could be anywhere in the world. Why so surprised? If you swim in shark infested waters expect to get bitten.

Suggest you change your drinking venues

-Crowd that varies from: sexpats, lost tourists, 3rd class wanabe models from eastern europe, few nigerian girls that goes from drug dealer to prostitute or even wannabe playboy (on wealth fair from Europe or North America), Indian and Pakis who most of the time just walk around to look at booty.

OP, which one are you?

Ok I'll join in because I'm bored at work, even though I don't live in Bangkok, I visit regularly.

- nothing new here

- how do you know they are working girls? and why does that bother you?

- choice is good isn't it?

- same in every major city in the world, again, why let it bother you?

- eat elsewhere

- again, why does this bother you? overweight? really?

- again, every major city in the world (what's 200 Baht anyway?)

- It's Bangkok.... sounds great fun to me.

Oh ... I thought you must have been one of those in the list. Are there others that you didn't include?

Bangkok is not only Sukhumvit, many other areas can be discovered everyday. I guess you know that already.

Oh really. OK. its just a soi in Bangkok full of young ladies that sell sex for money.

Be as pedantic as you like it is what it is.

lol, you are being redundant

Sorry you'll have to explain that, i'm english

Soi 11 is a place to eat or drink expensive German beer.

Also a place for (some) people I wouldn't want clogging up the better places in town.

I'm all for it. Not much of a pick up spot any more than the rest of Bangkok to be honest.

The clubs are all sanitised mostly....all about the crowd and vibe on any given night.

with a large residential population at one end, and many different bars and restaurants to chose from as well as hotels and clubs.

i live there, and i love it.

Bit like Soho in London then. I like Soho and spent many years socialising in the west end of london. However, in an area like Soho there is also a seedier side and if you are not prepared to put up with it then don't drink there. same applies to soi 11, sukhamvit. There plenty of other places which is the point i was making to the OP.

of the ops comments, these 2 stand out:

I miss the great parties in Bangkok not so long ago, where people had real fun, clubs were open late without the cops knocking at the door randomly to shut down it.

-Over saturated of noisy pubs opening and closing since I come in Bangkok more than 10 years ago.

it would seem to me that the OP has been overcome with a sort of nostalgia, and is blaming the soi rather than the fact that he is aging.

Of course the parties were better 10 years ago. As i recall, everything was better 10 years ago, or at least very different -- as were my priorities.

i suspect the OP has been afflicted with peter pan syndrome, while those around him grew up.

Oh, and not so long ago, within that era of love you hark back to, Purachai was shutting soi 11 down at 12:30 am sharp, drug dealers were being executed in the streets, and being in a club meant you had a 50/50 chance of pissing in a cup.

bash can usually pull that off.

Not like the old days at soho on 11 mind you, but there you had to listen to hip hop.
